Anyone Reload Steel Cased 7.62x39?

Just bite the bullet (pun intended) and buy 7.62X39 brass cases. X-Reload has them for about $35.00/50 (PRVI) or Winchester for $43.00/50. Both brands take boxer primers.

Smart idea on switching bullets to soft point!
Will give it a try!

I shot a 3 gun match a couple of years ago where one of the shooters was using a mag fed SKS...Steel core was verboten due to the steel targets so he used a collet puller to pull all of the steel core bullets and just replace with non-steel bullets.
If you do this, expect to have a lot of attention and have samples ready to show the RO's...This guy had to do his show and tell any every stage. I expect the range operators will be on you like a hawk.

The two calibers, i find hard to find brass for, on the EE, are x39 and 45-70.

Not worth trying to use crap cases. One manufacturer, Hornady?, made factory steel cased with hunting projectile.

I have bought molds and sizer to try cast. Not sure if the cz527 would work well with cast.

Go with the largest diameter cast bullet you can chamber cleanly.

Good plan!

Before reloading with SP or SST bullets, I measure the weight of powder from a half dozen steel cased surplus cartridges to get the average weight then I redistribute the powder evenly to get a more even speed = better accuracy. It just take a little longer but it's worth it considering it's for hunting.
