I plan on using campro 230grn plated bullets. Would like to use TG cause I already use a ton for 9mm, and it's a cheap and efficient powder. After reading quite a lot, opinions are really on both sides: complete crap or totally great.

My other choice would be hp38/win231, but unless TG is real crap I'd rather use TG.

Not a real fan of titegroup in general but I really didn't like it in 45ACP; cases came out of the gun very sooty. I had also fired rounds the same day loaded with red dot and CFE pistol and the cases were considerably cleaner. I'd still recommend trying it since you already have it, just don't go loading several hundred rounds until you've tested it.

You can use TG in reloading 45 acp. It depends on your firearm and components that you going to use. Load 50 rds and try how they shoot. Hodgdon manual online has lots of recepies for tg. It's the gun and components that are different for your combination, that will be the factor for whether it's going to be good or bad.

I use Titegroup to load my 45 colt loads because there is much less soot on the brass and good accuracy... but that's only for my low velocity ammo in my single action. It would be comparable to 45 ACP (though the charge is a little more in a 45 colt just because it's a bigger case/lower pressure)

Campro 230 gr PL RN 4.5 gr Titegroup OAL 1.175" gave me 688 fps SD 14 and very good accuracy out of 3 different Colt 1911's Bumping it up to 4,8 gr gave me 714 fps but I felt the 4.5 gr load gave better accuracy at 25 meters.

Titegroup was my initial choice of powder for 45acp. It is cheap and works decent and meters extremely well. I did notice it was a bit dirty even towards the top end of the spectrum. Also it scorched the brass. I worked up a load for a USP Tactical that ran well but was quite snappy recoil wise and got the gun hot quickly.

I started with the Titegroup @ 4.4gr and worked up too 5.1gr (840fps roughly of out 5in barrel) before I decided to try a different powder. I tried Autocomp, CFE Pistol, Win231, N320, N340 and Titegroup. I got excellent velocity out of CFE, and Autocomp (over 900fps! no pressure signs at all) but they had tonnes of recoil and burned super dirty. My backup in a pinch is Win231. My pet load now is a 230gr campro over 5.3gr of N320 (835fps super consistent with low ES). Burns incredibly clean and has alot less recoil.

It’s not my favourite but will certainly work. Since you’re sitting on a bunch of it may as well go ahead and try it for yourself. Tons of data to work from.

My preference is VV N310, but I’m doing light target loads and don’t have to meet any power factor.

My favorite 230gr Ball clone load is with Titegroup.
5.0gr with either a 230gr Lead RN or Plated RN bullet gets pretty much US army velocity specs of 820-840 fps.
I've shot boatloads of this.

I went to the range with a small amout each of 4.4, 4.6 and 4.8grn. 4.6 seemed like the most accurate load. Shoots better than my shadow2, and almost the same recoil as a typical 9mm. I made another 50 to confirm and went back yesterday. It's really a charm. I'm not sure the velocity is that great, I'll have to go to a different range to measure the velocity, but everything is perfect:
-Accuracy is good (better than my poor shooting skills, so even if a load was more accurate, I wouldn't know);
-Recoil is very, very tame; and
-The brass isn't really dirty, not that I care about that, but it's cleaner than PMC or *gasp* Wolf reloads.

I ordered more TG since I'll be using it in both 9mm and 45acp.

I've shot 1000's of rounds of 45 acp loaded with Titegroup. Going by memory I think I load 5.3 grains and that gets a 200 grain plated bullet to around 920 fps. Works good in my guns, but then I really haven't played much with powders and 45's.
