Looking at getting a new semi for Sporting Clays. Strongly considering the Maxxus in either the sporting model or the carbon fibre in 30". Anyone run one here?

They are supposed to be the fastest shooting shotguns with very smooth triggers and least amount of felt recoil (of course thas all advertising from the OEM ).

My son and I both shoot Browning Maxxus shotguns... they did some duty on clays and skeet... but that is more my sons game... and he is shooting a Beretta 692 now... I bought mine primarily for turkeys and waterfowl... they are nice handling, light recoiling guns.

I have a Maxus Sporting Clays I've been using for trap, but haven't tried sporting clays. Have shot doubles with it though. It shoots anything from light loads to heavy reliably, even without cleaning. I've been getting frustrated with inconsistency, although it's likely the shooter more than the gun. Not sure it fits me the best even with the cast and length of pull spacers, so I've acquired a Citori O/U that's more adjustable. I'll give the Maxus some more time after I get the O/U fitting.

I don't think they're claim to be the softest recoiling autoloader with the least muzzle jump of any gun is a false claim. I had one and by far it was THE softest shooting most reliable auto I have ever owned. I just had the same issues as the poster above with inconsistency but that was for me due to it's light weight. I am a big guy and used to shooting a heavy gun. With a heavier gun once you get that barrel moving it's harder to stop your swing. With the light weight of the Maxus combined with my size and strength I was stopping the swing much too easily, I was not fluid, I was choppy or jerky with it. Loved the performance of it otherwise though!

I picked up a maple stock version a few months back for clays and it is one of the nicest working and feeling shotguns I have ever had the pleasure of shooting. I would HIGHLY recommend it to anyone.

I have one for ducks that I used as a sporting gun in my early career for sporting, I soon bought a Beretta 391 and don't regret that move at all. The Maxus is soft shooting for being such a light gun, but as you probably know light is not what you want for clays, The problem is they are not smooth to swing and you can easily stop your swing and you can't add weight to the gun. The biggest problem that I had with my Maxus is Browning whole shim to fit you is useless!!! You can move it 1/16" up or down, which for a gun that comes with an extemely low comb already 1 3/4" when 75% of people fit around 1 1/2" drop at comb seems useless to me. I had to get a gel comb pad to put on mine to get it to fit. The Beretta's do make a better sporting gun IMO!

Several guys at my club have new maxxus guns and they seem to like them, I've witnessed the odd hang up but nothing serious.

That said, I still wouldn't buy one, I would be very inclined to look at a Beretta, new or used. They can't be beat.

Though I do have a very soft spot for OLD 1100's I love them!

I bought the sporting model. Have only shot 2 rounds of skeet but very happy with it. I think this is because the specs are almost identical to my citori white lightning sporting clays and my BT 99 trap gun.

The Maxus fits me well right out of the box, just like most Browning shotguns. On the other hand, I haven't tried a Beretta that fit me. I did own an A400 briefly, because the deal was too good to turn down, but even using the shims, it never fit me properly.

If it helps at all i have a field model maxxus in 3.5 inch that i just finished shooting skeet with and it is still cycling light trap loads flawlessly after 500 rounds or so without cleaning.
