Anyone running a Trijicon ACOG TA31** on their Classic Green?

I'm toying with the idea of getting a Trijicon for my Swiss Arms Classic Green and I'm wondering if anyone has run one. From pics on Google I see that the ACOG should clear the iron sights. I am specifically wondering if the bullet drop compensator for the hash marks are accurate with the Swiss (they were designed for the M4 in 16-20" barrels with US military ammo)

Also, any pursuasive reasons to chose between red or green chevrons?

Thoughts?
 
As long as your model was calibrated for 20" AR's then yes they line up right to 600m with 55's
 
There's 3 I know of..
1)Ta31 is calibrated for 20" (Not the F model, that one is 16")
2)Ta31RCO-A4 is ok, not the M4 (14.5")
3)Ta01 is ok, not the NSN model (14.5")

I run the TA31 plain jane with Larue RCO mount, best set-up for me. As well the 3x ACOG series would all work on yours.

Not all correct.. the only difference between the TA31 and the TA31F is the F has the red chevron , they are both for barrels between 16 and 20 . only the TA31RCO-A4CP models BDC is finely tuned to a 20 inch barrel and 62gr bullet .. I run the TA31F on my Swiss 20 inch barrel and the holdovers work perfect.. love it , main reason its the lightest most compact 4x optic out there , bonus on a already big heavy rifle. Im using a B&T top rail and the factory ACOG flat top AR mount and it just clears the rear sight ..

Actually that is slightly inaccurate, the F model is for 14.5" and 16" models (Same BDC as the RCOM4CP). I had the TA31F on my Classic Green and found it needed some compensation by inches, especially at longer distances. The TA31 hit the nail, the RCOA4 even better but at a cost.

Only some are. Most of the early models of Acog are calibrated for XM193. If you email Trijicon they can tell you exactly what your model Acog is calibrated for. Mine was XM193 in a 20" barrel.
 
So I was at a cabelas today in the USA and got to look through some of the 3.5x ACOGs. I don't think I'll be buying one. For targets at 100+ meters they would be awesome, but anything closer and I think it would take me forever to acquire a target. I tried for a few minutes and it just confused my eyeballs. I tried the same thing with an Eotech couple with a 3x magnifier and it was a much better setup for close, and hopefully for far.

Thoughts?

And yes, I know what the whole aiming theory is behind the ACOGs and it just didnt seem to work for me. Shame, the ACOGS had really nice glass.
 
Well the 3.5X are very nice, great eye relief. Like I said earlier for some people it works great, for others not so much. Using BAC does take practice and it is alot better outside in natural light. The problem with Eotech is it will sit skyhigh on a SAN, I'd go aimpoint instead.
 
I found with the ACOG if I looked at a target with both eyes open the brought the ACOG up to look at the target through my right eye and then focus, it tooka few seconds. If I looked at a target with both eyes open then brought the ACOG up to look at the target with my left eye and superimpose the chevron over the target with my right eye, I found that the chevron would actually be about a foot to the right of the actual target. I'm not sure if my description makes much sense here. Maybe it's a parallax problem.
 
Would be Eotech really be that much higher than an Aimpont and Aimpoint magnifier? Or were you referencing the Micro T1/H1 for he co-witness.

You can get a standard model (M2/ML2 or M3/ML3) and a low ring and it would sit probably 3/4" lower. Down side is it's going to be much harder to find a 3x magnifier for it.

As already stated, a 1-4 power variable scope would be a solid option, and there are quite a few nice ones for the same price point as an ACOG.

Vortex Razor series 1-4 or 1-6, or even a Viper PST 1-4 power, or you can get some of the new Leupold Mark AR's with the calibrated top turret, they're a pretty cool option as well, pretty economical option (you can supposedly do custom dials in the Leupold custom shop so you can get one for a 20" barrel for whatever bullet weight you want)

I have 2 eotechs coupled with g33s (I even have a g33 coupled with a trs25) and yes versatiliy is better but also eye fatigue is much less on the eotechs. I was in the same both with the acogs but I just thought the slap to side was a better setup for me. I don't have a swiss though... I do own a browe bso that I find absolutely stunning in clarity, much better than an acog for 4x. I have an elcan spectr dr that I put on my tavor and thats also more bang for your money.

It just seems everytime I had to consider a acog I decided to go with something else.
