Anyone seen the doctor?

Also checking in that you still have by barreled action for the accurizing package, doc :)
Haven't heard directly from you since I shipped it.

But I have my new USP 9mm to play with now, so I don't miss the norc too too much yet :p

I miss mine! I'm done with all my other projects and have completed this stock, I am ready to shoot!

The Dr is having his house re-wired by Telus because his internet and phone have been giving him a bad time. He's is working hard on all the various projects, rifles etc...I'm sure you'll hear from him soon.

This is how this Seller operates.

You'll get your stuff, eventually, and you'll be satisfied with the stuff when you finally get it, but the :ninja: Seller has been known to ignore customers - to the point of it taking on the appearance of a sport.

"Ha, ha, m****rf****rs!" :dancingbanana:"I've got yore money!" "I'm hunting...I moved...my dog died...":pirate: "Har har!"

Me? I don't appreciate the sense of humour.

Item is satisfactory. Seller slow to ship/ no tracking number/ no answer to PM's

This Seller, in a thread posting, complained of multiple personal problems.

He did not respond to any of my multiple requests for a tracking number for the package, despite having been confirmed to have viewed these same personal messages from me, and, despite his taking time almost daily to view other threads on GunNutz. This is unacceptable. After a long delay, the package arrived. The parcel had a tracking number attached to it. The delay was not the fault of the postal service; the Seller had been slow to ship. The Seller still has not responded to my enquiries, despite his having having been confirmed to have viewed them.

Ironically, one of the threads that he took time to read was a thread asking about the whereabouts of himself, this very seller. The thread had been posted by another confused customer who had not - and at the time of this writing, still has not - received the item for which he had paid this Seller and who had not received any answer to his enquiries. The thread attracted many others who were waiting for products from this Seller. And the Seller, despite reading the thread (dedicated to himself and) relating the concerns of his customers, chose neither to post an answer in the thread nor to answer his customers respective messages. He demonstrated poor customer service and bad business practice that lends dishonour to the trust among the members of the CGN Equipment Exchange. I hope he will not continue this peculiar behaviour.

I will not buy from this Seller again.

Maybe it's a BC thing, I've also been waiting answerless for another gun from another famous BC smith

the problem in my case is that I was facing issues that can only be handled by specific persons.
Would you have your porsche fixed at a KIA repair center?

well...hope I see mine soon. 500 bucks is a lotta money no matter how you look at it. And to not have the good doc reply to any emails is a little unnerving to say the least...

An update

Just got an email from Tom.

The bad news: his internet connection has been down for a couple of weeks ... the good news: it was disrupted in order to replace it with a better quality line.

Here is part of the email I received from him:

My internet has been down once again for almost 2 weeks so i have yet to get back on cgn. the telus van just left, they are replacing entire lines throughout our area and this is why service has been so poor the past couple months.

It shouldn't be too much longer before he shows up himself and answers your questions ... I'll bet he'll be busy answering emails for a bit. Sounds like he might have a 2 week backlog to deal with ...

I send a M305 for once over and purchased a "minty" USGI stock from him.

2 months later the rifle arrived and a stock that had a gigantic crack on one side.

Lousy comms / mis advertised item - would never do business with him again.

My experience

oh man, talk about mixed reviews......hope he was still able to mail out our stuff while his comunication service was down. not talking is one thing, not talking, and not mailing things is somthing else..... thinking positive.

My experience

not true.
you bought a stock that you were shown pics of by email. It was advertised on cgn as having an arsenal repair to one side that did not affect function. This stock was happily purchased by Tomochan when i first got it and he refinished and reoiled her. months later i purchased her back from him on a rifle he was selling. he was sorry to see that stock go. So I advertised it and you agreed to buy it through a full disclosure add with pics, and then asked for me to work on your friends M14 that you guys took weeks and weeks to get here, after being warned my hunting season was kicking in....... the rifle arrived and was fricken filthy, with a rusty.... yes rusty, piston and gas plug... replaced by me at no cost to you.
anyhow......

I have had internet issues here since i moved. It's a small community, very rural and with all the crappy windy weather up here through the past few months, entire telephone service lines have been being replaced throughout the forest grove/canim area. My place got the full meal deal with lines from the road and all the telephone wiring in my house has been replaced right to new jacks. I do not forsee any interent issues in the near future.

Secondly, there is one small truck that picks up the mail from our small post office. she drives a small chevy s-10 with a canopy and picks up for a vast rural area. we have no to the door delivery of mail here. I have been limited by the post office employees to 3 large packages a day due to the size of the vehicle picking up the mail.

third, I offer a custom product and have since i first started modding stocks and tweaking rifles. I try my best to guesstimate turn around times but there are so many factors that can cause a delay in my aimed for turn around time.
I test fire a rifle, or examine the final finish on a stock and if i'm not happy, the customer will surely not be happy, and i'd rather be given grief for being late that be given grief for a s**tty product. which by the way, after honestly 100's of stocks and an increasingly equal number of rifles through my hands, the quality of my work has been an absolute constant. My customer service skills and inabilty to meed deadlines at times for sure need improvement..... and having internet issues sure goes a long way with pissing people off.

so, if your item or rifle is late, there is a darn good reason for it and i will be emailing those affected over the next couple days and will also be continually shipping 3 parcels a day for the next few weeks.

it should be noted that the majority of my customers have seen this thread and sent me comments that are quite the oposite of those here, preferring a quality build or perfect stock over a set timeline.

I have not booked any new work for several weeks so as to spend my time finishing up what is here.
for those waiting for stocks, most are complete and shipping or have shipped, there were a few at the tail end of my july orders that i used a different product for blemishes and was told it would not react with the resins i am using. I afixed rails and such and allowed it to cure and once the black finish was down and cured, everywhere that product had been used raised the painted finish.... this has all been remedied. I am just sorting through my customer list this evening to see who has and hasn't received thier stock.

finally, I have closed the shop to new orders indefinately. The new stock will soon be availlable through a dealer i have selected and will no longer be sold direct. This will make things much easier for me to get my work done as everyday i also have to spend hours on the net answering emails, processing orders ect ect..... and this also i find eats up a lot of my production time. Too much in fact, so as far as sales of stocks go, I am putting a hold on any new orders and you will be deferred to the dealer i have chosen once inventory becomes availlable.

for those with sage installs currently on my bench, all of these are failing the trigger safety tests, every single one, and i have not adjusted the trigger pull yet. I am meticulously removing material from the trigger pad wings to allow for optimum fit with the sage product. Some would simply file down the sages trigger pad areas but that's sacriledge to me.
Charles Emond, you rifle once assembled is short stroking badly, that welding that was done elsewhere may have tweaked your gas system, I am taking her out tomorrow with a box full of chinese pistons to see if i can get her to function reliably.
and if your initials are P.B. , whose rifle has been with me for months, short stroking as well but i solved it. your rifle was leaking at the gas shut off. I replaced the spindle valve with a new take off chinese part and she seems to be functioning perfect. She will ship before the weeks is out.....

as for rifle work, the same thing goes, I will not be accepting any further rifle work until further notice. With the exception of those counting on me to install thier krieger barrels once they arrive. Outside of that my bench is closed. That said if you are the type of customer who appreciates a riflesmith who takes the time to ensure your rifle is getting the best of attention, and can deal with your rifle being away for 6 weeks to possibly 6 months, email me and we'll talk.

I don't want to sound like i'm taking this thread lightly, there are other comments here i'd love to dig my teeth into, but i just don't have time.
I'll say it again and these are words i stand by, I have from day one , and with perfectionists quality, offered a custom product that does not leave my shop untill i am satisfied that my client will find nothing to complain about and will feel that they got value for the dollar spent.

with that i'd like to see this thread locked as keeping up with emails and p.m.'s and having to do damage control here in this thread is distracting and taking me away from getting the work done you are all so anxiously waiting for.

I find it interesting to read the negativity in this thread, but nobody posted any negative feedback in his trader rating. What gives?

I'm pretty satisfied with Thomas' work. When I shipped my parts and sent in the payment, I told him to do it right. He told me it would take a few weeks to month because of the amount of work he has lined up and because of a hunting trip that he later agreed probably wasn't the best idea. Bottom line is, he gets the work done and it's done right.

I'll put my hand up and vouch for Thomas %100. He's build me two m14's that are the pride of my collection. They are both extremely accurate and function like budda %100 of the time. Tom does quality work. All m14 enthusiasts should count themselves lucky to have a smith like him in canada.

I feel that I should chime in as I have dealt with Tom five or six times over the last three years or so. While I wouldn't categorize myself as a buddy of his, I would say that he is known to me and I have dealt with him enough to form a good idea of what he is about and what his business practices are like. I dealt with him when he lived in Surrey and when he lived in Langley. I bought a USGI stock off him, had him accurize two or three Norc rifles for me , sold him a rifle and did a trade + cash with him for another rifle.

With the rifles he accurized, I was pleased with the price, the communications and the turnaround time and saw an improvement in the rifles post service. The rifles are now sold to others who were happy with them.

On both the purchases and sales between us I was satisfied with the deals as I believe was Tom. I had no issues with payment, transfers or delivery/pick up of the rifles.

Throughout the period of time we did deals there was never an issue regarding Tom's trustworthiness or reliability - we did deals on a handshake and I found him to be a stand-up guy.

I haven't had occassion to deal with Tom since he moved out to the boonies but I suspect that the mixture of the move, phone + internet communications problems and the possible over-paced growth of a business have contributed to the problems others are reportedly experiencing.

For my part, I personally would not hesitate to do business with Tom again.

Bob.
