Anyone seen these dummy rounds before?

I drill 3/32" holes in the side of live rounds and squirt in a litte 30W with a hypodermic needle. I let them sit standing on end overnight and then let them drain, hole down, on a paper towel for a day. They are completely inert then and I use them for action testing. I don't use them as snap caps, I don't think dry firing is hard on modern firearms, but I have tried to fire them and have never had one even fizzle. The nice thing about this method is you can test the actual round/bullet shape you are going to use, not some facsimile.

Could you just build your own? How hard is it to inert/remove the primer? Pulling the bullet out is easy and pouring out the powder. It's just the primer you would have to worry about.

You can't remove the primer from a rimfire cartridge. You would have the pull the bullet, remove the powder then neutralize the primer by soaking it in oil or the easiest way by firing the empty casing in a gun to initiate the primer.

It would be easier to just pick-up some spent shells from a range and inserting a custom turned bullet in the end so the weight would be near the same as a live round.

I will just call Wholesale Sports in the morning and order the dummy round over the phone. I have enough projects on the go at the moment and making my own dummy rounds is at the bottom of the list. ;)

Not the same ones, but I used these as snap caps in my .17 HMR The firing pin does damage it, so after I use them 6-7 times, I switch to a new one. Several come in a pack.

Thanks for the info. Been looking for .22 dummy rounds myself for function testings and safety instructions purposes. Cheers!:)
