Just looking for infos on the Cooper in 308, there supposed to be dead accurate, any one have an opinion... Thank. JP.

don't have one in .308. but I have a .270 and a .17hmr. They shoot as advertised from my experience. Great looking guns, I wouldn't trade either of them.

Because I always like to point out imperfections.....1) the bolt lift on the .270 is a bit stiff 2) the finish on the wood is quite frankly delicate. I've hunted with them both and a couple dings in the wood doesn't bother me, but be aware if you are not of the same mind. Even with that I would recommend a cooper to anyone.

I have owned 17 Coopers, right now I have 10 including a new one in 375 H&H, I am just waiting for a new scope before I try it out. My son bought the first Model 54 laminate varminter in 308 from Clay last year and it and all my Coopers can usually outshoot most average shooters. The 308 kept most factory ammo under 1/2 moa, really liked the Nosler Custom ammo (3/8 moa) and the 168 gr Zombie shot about the same, the Barnes ammo stayed just under an inch, not impressive. Never had an issue with a "stiff" bolt, their standard claro walnut is like most other makers claro stocks they are not super hard as custom woods (New Zealand walnut). Claro walnut is never allowed to grow long enough to fill in the pores, the demand is too great resulting in open pores or if you will "softer wood". But you will have to go a long ways to beat Cooper's quality and workmanship, I have rifles at twice the price that don't match up to Coopers fit and finish.

The model 54 Varminter laminated 308 is the one i am interrested in, saw it in Clay inventory... JP.
