anyone shoot at Victoria fish and game?

I was up there this past Saturday it was pretty quiet we had the whole multi-purpose range to ourselves. It was a little on the cool side at -3 so I was only there for an hour or so. Hope it warms up in the next couple of days for you.

That's where I shoot my restricteds. I prefer weekdays as it's usually pretty quiet at the multi purpose range. Took some new shooters up a few weeks ago and had the MP range to ourselves. Was a good day.

Weekdays are best...if your schedule allows. I try for Fridays usually but that Malahat traffic is a pain! Even when busy there has been friendly other range users and a good cross section of firearms to chat about...

I shoot there (the BC CFO demands that I belong to a range so they are it) or the military range in Nanaimo with the BCRA (600 yards and approved for restricteds).

Speaking of the fish and game does anyone have a better way to go southbound when leaving the range now other than driving to the new uturn route? I was there yesterday and at least the uturn route is paved and can fit multiple cars now but it seems further north than it needs to be. It may just be more annoying now because of all the construction, but it seems to be a pain that you have to go north before going south again. I guess this is now the same for those people that are coming from upisland, you have to drive past the range to the gas station before you can go northbound and actually get to the range?

Unfortunately it seems like that's what we have to do now. The median will pretty much exclude us from jetting across the street and turning around. The turn around north of the club looked like it was just finished when I was there a week ago out so. Before that you had to go even further down to turn around. Kinda a pita but such is life.

Just a reminder that come january now the holster course is mandatory at the club if you want to run a holster. The times they run courses there mean I'm either late for them in the morning or I have to spend a night in town because of the ferry times. Booo I say lol

Emailed them a couple weeks ago about a 2015 membership... no answer.

Memberships can be purchased at IO or Pullen's (cash or cheque). I'm still pretty p*ssed about that idiotic holster course, even though it doesn't apply to me, if it wasn't for that MP range I would definitely not bother renewing, but there's simply no replacement for it (when you get left alone to use it as intended).

All in all it's not a bad range except sometimes on weekends the MP range gets busy and it's really the only option for the south island and it's pretty affordable too. Look at the North Saanich Rod and Game Club they stopped accepting new applications for memberships back in 2013 and they estimate with the applications they have on file it's a 10 year waiting list before they'll start accepting new applications.

For 2015 memberships you should be able to get them now, just go into Island Outfitter's or Pullen's, I'm going to get my new one either tomorrow or monday, just do it before the end of this year, you'll save a few bucks which can go towards some ammo :)

Thanks guys,

I'll pop into Island Outfitters and grab a membership. I'm guessing it probably doesn't commence until January 1st? I wanted to transfer some xmas restricteds to myself!

If your a new member the orientation is mandatory. The holster course is a pain, and I think I'll just leave my holsters at home. I haven't been up there in a couple months now. I really wish there was another option closer to Victoria. The last time I was up there it must have been the annual FUDD convention. I was told how useless my AR was, and the aluminum cased. 45acp was bad for my SR1911. I think they were just mad I wasn't leaving any brass.

I'd get your name in asap for the asinine orientation and pointless holster course - since they won't sell you a 2014 membership, your new one is valid immediately

Never taken the stupid orientation, I just signed the waiver at the main office. Lucky for me I have my BB course so I don't need that holster course...

But they are going about it the wrong way, How the heck can they certify someone to be safe with only 50 rounds of ammo in a couple of hours.... its a farce at best ....

25$ deposit for a Key for the MP range.

150$ for a family pass, You can buy them right now for 2015....
