Anyone Shoot CB .22 Long's?

i shoot raccons and squarills in my backyard with them and work very well too, yes they are very quite through a rifle, on some semi's they dont have the energy to cycle the action though, they work real good in my bolt and lever actions, its true there are pellet guns louder like a co2 powered cp99 with a new co2 cartirige installed,they do suffer from bullet drop after 40 yards with a little practice at your local range or back yard you'll learn quickley how to place your shot properley, and advailable almost any gun store for a cheap price in boxs of 100, they also make cb shorts which i find just a little louder since they have the same power and smaller case any more info needed on they just ask, made by CCI

deadly to raccoons 30 to 40 yards and squarills i have to say if you hit one at 50 -75 yards plus would drop it dead, there a 29 grain bullet and retain all there weight do to the low speed, all these stats are based on well placed shots from a bolt action ANSCHÜTZ
If you used a Paco tool on a CB Long you might get something that would be good to use in a quonset or similar building. I guess it depends on what the target is made of. A good pellet gun might do the trick. Check out the PPC rifles if you are interested in going that route.

Pretty available, you should be able to find them wherever Minimags are sold...
and if they are more quiet to shoot than the Remington Subsonic I have shot which aren't all that quiet. Thanks
Yes, more quiet. The "whap" against the target is often louder than the primer being smacked.
You see, the thing is that .22 CB Longs are still .22's, and that means that they can ricochet something fierce, albeit at lower speeds. I've shot a 1-inch layered-wood board with CB Longs, at not more than 18 feet with a Savage 3B only to have the bullets bounce back against me, albeit harmlessly. With a Remington 512, those same .22 CB Long's penetrate the board almost completely and, if Paco'ed, can cause a nasty crack along the width of the board.
Use low power pellet gun if you think your going to use the walls of a building as your back stop even if unintentional .

I hear the shotshells are largely inaccurate and the 495fps pellet gun I had is not powerful enough. Was hoping for an alternate to buying a +$500 +500fps pellet gun for use in a barn a couple times a year.

Okay, the thing is that most .22 shotshells (if not all?) are designed for use in a smoothbore .22. The rifling just happens to screw up the patterning. Oh, and they're by no means a long-range proposition...
