anyone shoot rugers for ipsc??

I shoot with a Beretta 96 and I just bought a P-944 for a IPSC back up in case of a malfunction, had a P-85 in 9mm traded it for the Bereta 40sw.

Run what you brung. I am doing my black badge course this weekend with an old 1911 a1. Built in 1943. Dinky sghts and shoots about 5 inches at 25 yards. For the ranges that they shoot at it should be fine.

I had a ruger p-85 mk 2. It shot much better than my old 45. The only hinderance is that the 9 mm will be classified as a minor caliber. The only difference that I can see just reading the regs is a bullseye is scored as 5 for major and 5 for minor. However the next score level outside of the bull is 4 for minor and 5 for major.

So If you can shoot straight it should'nt matter a great deal. If you are looking to spend some money you might need to get a few mag pouches.

A long match requires 32 bullets.

use the ruger for production...just need to meet minor.

Use my P-95 most of the time as well as a friend.

When we show up for matches with the Rugers the laughing stops when the shooting starts.

Ruger:

The brick that works.

Ruger guys can shoot but the other guys can't shoot Rugers.

I shoot a ruger p345, just love it! haven't had any problems competing with it either, has turned out to be very reliable.

Successfully completed my black badge with a very old colt 45

I did it with a stock 1911 a1 built in 1943 no problem at all. We had a mini match at the end an the old 45 held up pretty well.

The engagement ranges are from about 3 yards to 20 yards. Run what you brung its a ton of fun.

Now that I have tried it and I really liked it the old 45 is getting a decent set of bomar sights and the 15 lb trigger is going on a diet.

You will have no problem completing the course with a ruger. And if you can still shoot straight you will have the distinct pleasure of beating a ton of people running 2000+ guns with your old ruger.

Ipsc is a little like golf. You could give me a ping and tiger woods a wiffle bat and I am sure he could drive the ball farther and straighter than I ever could.
