Yes, Merwin and Hulbert> many of their early revolvers were chambered in the 44 M&H. Cases are pretty much the same as 44 American and can be made by cutting down 41 Magnum cases and maybe trimming the rim a bit. I believe they were a heeled bullet. Anyone loading for them? or have a bullet mould? or know where one can beg, borrow or buy lead for them?
