I want to convert a Remington VSSF II 22-250 to a 6XC for up to 1000 yard shooting. Right now it is an eight twist 22-250 and I'm looking for more performance to reach further targets. Will only be used for target shooting. So I'm curious if others are doing this and if they are happy with it.

Are you forming brass or buying it?
Where can I get the norma brass?
Are you happy with this cartridge?

I am shooting one and yes its good. Only drawback is getting brass jf you dont want to fireform. Ive shot it over 1000m and it performs well. Use berger 105 hybrid s for best performance.

I am shooting using formed PRVI 22-250 brass. Works great.

It's weird that Norma brass is actually cheaper than Lapua brass in the US, but twice as expensive here. Surprising that no one is importing it directly like Lapua given that Norma offers many more caliber choice like 6XC, 6.5 Creedmore and the SAUM and WSM cartridges that are popular with F-Class shooters.

Jerry what procedure are you using to form the brass so nice? I have never formed cases before.

Bump the shoulder of the 22-250 with a FL sizer or body die to a crush fit in the chamber.

Fireform using a light charge of pistol powder and cornmeal... sometimes cream of wheat.

Neck size, outside neck turn, trim... ready for standard powder charge. Done.

The load to fully form the case will be slightly different then the load you will use for reg precision shooting. I do my practising with this final forming load. Then the brass is ready for a match.

Norma comes into NA as Norma USA branded and boxed. So unless you got millions of dollars ready to change that supply chain, it costs what it costs.

Cdn market is simply way too small to bother.

I'm shooting one, have fire formed Lapua 22-250 brass, which works fantastic, now shooting Norma brass though, just easier.
Basically fire-formed the way Jerry is doing it, run through 6XC sizing die, I loaded with bullets though and shot them for fire-forming, they shoot incredibly accurate during fire-forming surprisingly. I didn't neck turn, though I do ream inside the neck because this method with Lapua 22-250 brass leaves a "donut". They say the donut has no ill effect unless you seat bullets very deep and the get into the donut. I just take it out because I know its there.
105 Berger hybrids are excellent target bullets, as are the 108 Lapua Scenar L's. I've shot 105 Berger hunting bullets and 88 gr varmint, and 87 gr Hornady Vmaxs in mine, everything seems to shoot very well.
Excellent Varmint cartridge as well as a fun long range target round.

6XC is a great cartridge but the dies (at least used to be) proprietary like the Shehane dies. Brass is a bit better now that Lapua has 22-250 brass, but the issue with fire formed brass is they end up being a tad shorter than proper 6XC cases. Not a BIG deal, but the extra neck is a good thing in the purpose made brass.

I have played with lots of 6mm cartridges and the Berger 105 Hybrids are my favorite... the Holy Grail of 6mm cartridges for me is the 6X47 Swiss Match. Very similar to the 6XC, but not many people using it. I kinda like that. RWS brass is equal to Lapua, but you have to find it.

go for 6MM Dasher you can buy brass Or make your own and does not wear out throat nearly as fast and low on recoil
