Anyone shooting a Smith 1911?

I was wondering the same thing. I have been thinking of picking one up. Esthetically they are nice but the scandium frame had me curious. As this is meant as a lightweight carry gun how is the weight/recoil?

I own a first production S&W 1911. I shot more than 20 thousand round trough it. It is reliable and accurate, for a basic gun. Arrived well fitted and quality was what you expected from this big name. It take the Wilson 10 rounds bureaucrats mag with no problem. My only feeding problem I have was with my reload sometimes. With factory ammo, No feeding or jamming problem.

S&W were forging frame and slide for Kimber before they decided to produce this handgun under there name. I will classified this pistol in the same class then a Kimber, Springfield Armory loaded.

As the title suggests, is anyone shooting a Smith 1911, and if so how's the reliability and accuracy?

You've been looking at the used one for sale at the VIACA gunshow at the Saanich Fairgrounds, eh? :p

Better get it today as someone's likely to offer 'cash money' and walk away with it.... ;) :D

BTW - There was a very nice Series 70 Colt government .45ACP that went on Friday nite at set-up for $450, with three mags....

I own a S&W 1911DK (basic model, not the high-end competition one) and it's an absolute joy to shoot. No jams, no hiccups whatsoever. I've made big raggedy holes at 20m with it.

Yeah, I damned nearly bought a Glock 22, 'til I realized I don't need a Glock 22 (even at $300) :runaway:

Thanks for the info on the Smith 1911's guys. I'll probably get one soon, they seem like a deal considering the price/quality equation.

I thought the gun show was a downer. Mostly old, over-priced stuff.

Depends what you were looking for.... Shared a couple of tables with 3 others, so that gets you in for set-up on Friday night and also a good hour or so before the doors open to the public on Saturday... that's when all the "good stuff" goes. Got all kinds of deals on ammo, brass, powder etc. Also picked up a nice 1944 dated "Boyt" pattern 1916 USGI .45 holster, a 1918 dated kahki .45 ACP mag pouch, a complete box of Winchester 1941 dated .45ACP ammo.... all kinds of good stuff. Plus sold enough other stuff to cover my part of the table and give me some 'spending money' for the show. Even 'resold' stuff that was purchased cheap on Friday nite then resold during the show for a nice profit for some of the 'spending money'..... so over all I thought it was a "good show".... :D

I love my Smith 1911 w/Rail!

It's a great pistol, boreing accurate and has ate pretty much every reload I've stuffed into the mags...

The only thing that keeps me from shooting it all the time is the cost of its diet! Even reloading a 45 is more pricy than the 40S&W and 9mm.

Here is it fresh out of the box...with 100 rounds on target

Had to adjust my grip alittle to center the group...lesson learned I guess... lol

S&w 1911

Very reliable and easy to keep clean. Fun to shoot. A must to have in your collection. Mind you, you should try the gun first before considering a purchase. Check to see if it suits you as to handling and shooting.

No worries, not my first 45 (or 1911 for that matter) :D
