Hey folks,
Anyone here running mini rifle IPSC?
What are your setups?Rifle ,optics?
I see there are a few clubs running matches in Ontario this year. I haven’t shot IPSC mainly Outlaw and CRPS matches. Our club run pistol event organizers ar3 going to let a few of us run the 22’s on their courses.

Doesn’t seem to be much info on Mini Rifle. Did a quick search on some of the IPSC Section websites and nothing. Found one video from IPSC Manitoba from 2024.

A bunch of my friends have started getting into it - myself included. We’re all shooting the TM22 and have ordered the 10” barrels from Dlask in order to speed up getting around obstacles and such. Lots of fun!!!

Nice! I’ve got a modded up 10-22 as well with a reflex sight on it. Also have a TM 22 on order. The shorter barrel for it makes sense for running through the course easier.
Hopefully this will grow in Canada. Seems pretty popular across the pond and in some South American countries.

It may be hard to grow Mini Rifle. I don’t think a lot of the IPSC pistol guys will cross over as long as they can continue shooting their pistols. A Mini Rifle Black Badge course would be required to draw in new shooters.

Its hard to get motivated for these type of gun sports with the Liberals at the helm.

PCC was awesome and they pretty much killed that with the stroke of a pen (OIC). To the untrained eye IPSC mini rifle "looks" the same so logically eventually the Liberals will go on another banning spree cos "If it saves only one life" or some other platitude.

I still struggle to believe that they banned some 22s under the pretence that they are "Assault weapons".

And yes, I am aware that the Liberals are almost certainly done and PP will be more sensible when it comes to firearms but I will hold from celebrating until things are in a MUCH better place.

I thought I heard there was going to be adjustments made to the black badge course for the non pistol disciplines.

Yeah , the libtards have definitely thrown a wrench into the shooting sports, I’m going to keep on keeping on though. Support the groups that are fighting for us and write the MP’s. Whether it will help or not, I guess we’ll see.
Cheers

If things don't change from what they are now, the death of IPSC will become an attrition thing. What could help keep things going longer is guys/gals shooting a match in two different divisions to get the "number of shooters" up.
In Manitoba we were able to draw in some new shooters into PCC who did not own handguns. Hopefully we'll see those guys again soon after an election.

Did the PCC shooters have to do a pistol black badge course or were you able to run a PCC black badge course? Hopefully after the election there will be a shift back to the way things were with a reversal of the OICs and eventually scrapping of several bills.

We were going to do something similar but more IDPA style. I built a rifle based on a Savage 64, but it never got off the ground. We also talked about a .22 two gun match; but again, nothing came if it either. Not the only rifle I have that I don't shoot. LOL

We ran combined BB courses. Most participants used handguns for the course but some used PCCs. Basically a student who did it with handgun can shoot either Division, but the PCC guys can only shoot PCC division.

A few observations on this thread.

The nice thing about PCC was that we could shoot the exact same stages as handgun. Set up one match and both disciplines play.
With Mini Rifle, it's close - but the steel has to be different calibrations so that can toss a wrench into the plans.

Mini Rifle is getting a little traction in BC, Manitoba and Ontario right now.

The Handgun Black badge allowed the graduate to shoot all disciplines; HG, MR, PCC and SG.
The PCC Black Badge allowed a graduate to shoot Mini Rifle and / or PCC.
A Shotgun Black badge is in development this year.
The Idea of the separate BBs are so that people without handguns can play too.

If someone is running combined PCC and Handgun BB courses; they are breaking IPSC Canada NTO rules. The two official courses are significantly different (Ie PCC is all mini targets, handgun is full targets) and the graduates of the course risk not having their certification recognized.
Please don't do that.

Keep in mind that the only bans that can be backed out via OIC with a Conservative government are December 2024 and this month's. The OIC from 2020 got enshrined in the law that banned the sale of handguns and a new law is required to back that one out.

PCC was a significant growth direction for IPSC in Canada. The OICs killed it; but if we can get some freedom back - it will be pushed again - bigtime.
