Anyone stick with the Ruger Mags?

So I got my Ruger PC9. I also have a Glock 17 and of course a bunch of glock mags. I watched a few you tube vids and some people seemed to have less problems with the Ruger mags so I bought a couple extra SR9 mags from a fellow CGNer.

Hopefully taking it to the range today to try out the new optic (sparc2) and the additional mags.

Wonder if everyone switched over to the glock mags (assuming you also have glock pistols) or stick with additional rugers.

I have PCC9 (and JR) and use exclusively glock/Pmag mags.
I sold the Ruger mag that came with it on the EE and used that money to buy 2 pmags :)

Ive had no issues whatsoever with Glock compatible.

The magpul Pmags are the best value esp when the go on sale!
They are the sweet spot between price and quality.

True Glock mags are just slightly better than Pmag. I find they fit a little bit tighter but i can't justify the price.
The no name brand that are cheaper than Pmag are flimsy and rattle a lot. Id avoid them. I got one with my JR and it stays home.

If you're looking for another Ruger mag, send me a pm. I switched my PC9 to Glock mags and have a brand new Ruger mag surplus to my needs.

This is actually a regret that I have, that I sold the Ruger magwell as well as the Ruger mag that came with it. The Glock magwell may allow for compatibility with Glock mags, for which I have quite a few, but I have found that the Glock mags are really hit and miss on the last round bolt hold open. For the OEM Glock mags, particularly so. The PMAGs/Pro Mag Glock compatible slightly less hit and miss. The Ruger magwell and Ruger mag had the last round bolt hold open work 100% of the time. I just didn't want to have to buy a host of OEM Ruger mags (if I could find them) at the elevated prices. Kicking myself for that decision now.

I use the Ruger magazines and have had zero problems with feeding or last shot bolt hold open - they work fine.

In the early days when everybody was switching to Glock mags I got all that I need free or cheap!

.

i have 3 ruger mags, made of steel not plastic, fits snug in the mag well , not loose an sloppy like the glock mags, never a problem

I also have SR-9 and 5 mags, it’s all I’ve been using in my PC9. Never a problem in around 2000 rounds. With arthritis I do find the SR-9 mags a little harder to load than my glock mags. Guess thats why they make mags loaders.

I use SR9 mags in mine and have no problems at all. And yes they are a bit hard to load but I did get a cheap mag. loader and that solved that problem.

I own a SR9 with several magazines. The Ruger mags work well in PC9.

The compact mag that ships with the rifle (which won't work in the SR9 pistol) is quite a bit shorter than the standard SR9 mags and is less prone to hanging up on brush while walking.

So it comes with a SR9c mag? I was hoping it would be the regular one since I have a SR9 too. They never sold the SR9c here so what's the point. SR9 mags are so expensive too.

I'm really torn on this one. I have a Ruger PC Carbine and was thinking of switching to Glock mags just because there are a lot of people with Glocks at the range. I can't say I've ever seen that Ruger pistol where I've been going. It's always nice to have a backup if I do something stupid and forget to pack the magazines in my rifle bag or something. But seems people are very happy with the Ruger magazine... Hmm..

i used both

started with the ruger mags. had issues with the ejector (stovepiping) in the ruger magwell. waiting for warranty to replace the magwell, the part is currently on backorder.

swapped over to the glock magwell and got some magpul pmags. last round bolt hold works. no issues so far.

I don't hold an RPAL, so no Glock mags laying around to complicate matters. On my first PC (sold a while back) I used the GLOCK magwell and picked-up a bunch of cheap Glock mags here on the EE. All ran fine.

On the second PC, I stuck with the Ruger mags and snagged a few extras on the EE including a 10/17 if memory serves. I like a little extra length on the mags for grabbing, but when I last looked a new mag like that would be over $100 with tax/shipping.

I'd pick-up another Ruger mag if anyone is looking to get rid of theirs.

When I recently bought my ruger carbine, the salesman told me that I can stay with the ruger mag but switching it to the other might be better as the ruger mags were significantly more expensive and much harder to find.
