WHEW! The design stage is done and now we're on to the testing stage. I know I always say this but I think you guys are really gonna like this thing. We made the chassis and rails system separate products that will work separate or together. So you should be able to buy a complete chassis and railed upper hand guard/scope mount for less then the cost of a complete Troy chassis. I've employed an aircraft engineer and several other consultants on this project to help bring about the best quality system at a very reasonable price.
Although this could change as we go through the testing phase here are some of the features of the system.
Railed Handguard/scope mount features:
-5 points of contact to ensure that barrel whip is consistant.
-Top rail height lower then typical Brookfield type mount designs
-ability to mount a mini red dot @45deg for backup to the Scope with accessory rails.
-full length rail that extends to the end of the rear sight pocket so that standard BUIS can be used.
-Ability to mount to any M14 with either our chassis or typical aftermarket stock, USGI, Boyds etc.
-Full support for mounting scopes
-and many other little things.
Chassis System Features:
-High tolerance contact surfaces for tight drop in fit.
-Ability to lock down the oprod guide to add support for the barrel.
-Ability to dial in pressure at the gasblock/front furile
-Adjustable bedding pressure at the back of the receiver to help lock it down in much the same way as a rear lugged receiver works.
-Fully adjustable for height M4 buffer tube adapter. From comfortable use of irons all the way up to a typical AR stock/rail height relationship.
-Pistol grip mounting options that will allow the user to use a pistol grip with full web support unlike most systems that use AR grips but do not include the other half of the web support missing in the AR grip.
The complete system with both the Chassis and the Railed upper will weigh about the same as the typical USGI fiberglass stock. We looked at a large selection of materials and tried to choose the best of all the options we have including tool steels, Aluminum, advanced polymers etc. Testing should start in about a month or so once prototypes come off the line. I'll post up some pics of the models as soon as we have the drawings finalized early next week.
I am really excited about this project even though it has almost bankrupted me, lol.
