Looking to built a compact thumper to ride co-pilot with me (think M7 Custom KS 350 RM). Been thinking of re-boring a WSM M70 to 375 and lopping the barrel off to 18.5" and installing a peep sight. Anyone had any experience with this wildcat?

I think it would make a heck of a close up backup gun, not to mention a decent hunting rifle. I'd imagine ballistics are similar to the 9.3x62

I'd imagine a guy could get fancy and start with a kimber Montana 8400. Come to think of it the pencil barrel might not have enough meat in it for 375.

Check out the 35 sambar.

There is a 600 dollar (I think might be 700) 7wsm BLR at wholesale sports in Calgary. It calls to me; begging to have a wildcat med-bore WSM barrel on it. I don't know if I can resist much longer.

I got one in a Handy little package....
Peep sight, short barrell
Its a Win 94 in the original 375 short mag... the 375 Winchester.

Haha

I built one on a 350 RM case years ago (before the WSM case) on a short M77 action and an 18" barrel. It performed much better than anticipated and equaled original 375 H&H ballistics. It gave me 2700 fps with 270 gn bullets. I hear it's still kicking around the Yukon killing moose and other a sundried critters every year..........I have been pondering exactly the same project and a 416 WSM as well..................

Think he already sold it.

Chased this idea myself. The Google fu stuff on the interwebs basically says that Win quit at 8mm as the case suffered too much powder cramping from large projectiles above .323.

That does not appear to be true. Wondering if people then get bullets seated really far out...and custom throats to accomodate this.

I'd imagine it's not the proper case for shooting 350gr tsx or 380gr rhinos but if you stick to non-monometals in the 250-270 range I'm sure it would be fine.
