The thing about the WSM's...
Great idea, short cartridge means more barrel to pick up speed, or shorter barrel required for the same effect,
And, short cartridge means less action length which reduces weight.
Unfortunately this may also mean a beefier action for the larger ammo, as compared to say a ..308 win based cartridge, heavier action with the savage for instance. Smaller magazine capacity because of the fat ass bullets. You end up with a rifle that's just as heavy as a long action practically, with about the same length barrel anyways, and less rounds in the mag, so know you have a few extra rattling around in your pocket, ain't much for cheap WSM ammo these days either.
Having said all that, I still think how handy a Browning BAR rebarreled to .375 WSM with a 5 round mag would be in a few circumstances.
Not sure why the steyr was brought up as a comparison, kind of like comparing a .308 win to a .300 win
