Anyone purchased a 1911 Girsan ? Is it worth spending double for a ruger or S&W ? I am playing with the idea of a stainless upgrade from a norc.

I have been wondering about the fit, finish and action smoothness. Also, compatability with 1911 parts?

I have a yavuz (beretta clone) and it has one of the smoothest actions, like butter. One of my favorite pistols.

Chime in brothers and sisters.

I have one in 45acp. (Nickel. There's a boring story about that).

The Girsan seems solidly made, slightly loose slide to frame fit but fit and finish is otherwise very good. Feeds SWC bullets fine. Trigger good. Shoots a little low but at 6 o'clock so easy to fix.

Either the hammer spring or the recoil spring is super strong as it is difficult to rack the slide with the hammer down and with the slide being slick polished nickel it compounds the problem. (Again, an easy fix when I get round to it).

Only a couple of hundred rounds thru it at the moment but no failures.

Looks a bit 'bling' and I will probably change it for a blued or stainless 1911 at some stage as I have rather gone off the polished nickel. (Nothing to do with the overall fit and finish which is much better than the price would suggest.)

FYI, I have also had a plain vanilla Norc in 45. No issues although trigger was a bit heavy. Traded up to a STI Spartan which was amazing and which I stupidly sold in a weak moment.
