Hey i was looking at some very decently priced scopes , some were ever vortex or trijicon ,.... they were a fraction of the normal prices , was wondering if anybody tried any of these made in china scopes , and how they like them?

There are some excellent value scopes and some absolute junk. I own many of the nice optics including S&B, Nightforce,Vortex, Leupold, etc. Only thing is, you can't put top of the line on every gun. Over the years, I have tried a number of the Aliexpress optics. There are some nice ones that I have bought half a dozen. Most of the ones I buy are in the $US $100 to $250 range. The $50 stuff is mostly junk. The knock off stuff is usually disappointing.

I've had good luck with several of the scopes from Vector Optics. Some nice FFP ones with good glass, good turrets, good reticles, 1/2" groups no problem on several Tikka T3 including a 300WSM. I use a 1-6 scope on my 3gun AR. For $250 it works on par with my Leupold Mark 4 that I paid $1200. Just don't expect a warranty. Only one small problem out of about 20 scopes from this company. Battery contact on one of the illuminated reticles was intermittent.

Yup, I've used a bunch of them. I have an 8x-32x50 that has ridden almost everything I own. It hung-in for about 1000 rounds on my M-14, a few hundred .30-'06, and about 60 rounds of .338WinMag, so far. (plus a bazzilion .22LR, and .221FB). It was my first "high powered" riflescope.
All my rimfires wear the Chinese scopes (primarily from futong(dot)com, out of Vancouver). Plus, I have "back-up" scopes for any gun that I take on a hunting trip that is more than a 6 hour drive. Weaver/Picatinny scope mounts are quite repeatable, and in the event that my Bushy Elite or Leopold scope gets damaged, I just swap-on a previously sighted-in Fitco optic, and I'm back in business.

I played around with one. Poor quality optics (lots of chromatic abberation). The adjustments worked fine for awhile and then #### the bed. Scope was on a 7mm RM.

I wouldn't waste my money. Half the "quality" scopes are already made in China and the Philippines or the parts are, or there assembled there. Why would you want something a lesser cheaper factory makes to copy a quality product they are probably already cutting quality measures to come in at a cheaper price. It's literally a money trap it will fail it's just a matter of when. Most of the lower quality vortex scopes have minor and major fails and that's an expensive scope. At least the ones I owned it's the only brand I have had to send back so far. There are plenty of bargain scopes for a reasonable price. Some with a lifetime warranty.

Cheap scopes are not cheap in the long run. Avoid them until you can buy a decent optic.

I'd rather buy a cheap name brand scope like a bushnell banner than a cheap knock off of a high end scope. At least with a bushnell you'll have some sort of warranty if its crap right out the box. Or buy used for cheap. My last scope off the EE was $45...

Yep. Bought a couple and stopped. Funniest (have to have a sense of humour when buying this stuff) was an EOTECH knockoff. Looked great and would never know it was a knockoff by looking at it. Mounted on a SKS and fired it twice. The innards let go. Did some dissecting and when opened up, everything inside just kinda fell onto the table. My buddy laughed his butt off as I swept the remnants into one hand and tossed them and the rest into the garbage can!

cheers,

Just love the category buyers. Guess they never shop at Walmart. If you buy the cheapest stuff from China, don't expect a good experience. On the other hand, the more expensive China made item will still be only 1/4 to 1/2 the price of our local products. The better made China optics I like use Japan or German lenses. Companies like Leupold openly admits they build offshore.

The higher priced China made optics look way better than the low end name brand.

Most name brand items have distributor and retailer markup that are up to half the sale price. Look at Cabella's house brands which are often made in China. Often you will find the exact same item on aliexpress for 1/4 to 1/2 the price.

Yes, the really low priced China made stuff is mostly junk. From my experience, most of the higher priced China made optics are excellent value. You cannot buy the least expensive item and judge an entire country on that experience.

We used to carry a lot of the inexpensive NCStar/VISM optics, but when you have to send things back once a week eventually the math starts being obvious and we stopped bringing them in. The biggest issue is that they tend to try to cram in features rather than quality, and for every feature added the chance of failure goes up.

Which of course ignores the cruddy glass, bad finishes, wonky manuals, iffy wiring, etc.
