Anyone tried pet store crushed walnut for tumbler media?

I use a product called Lizard Litter, its crushed english walnut shells. I use about 10% corncob media mixed in with it(just the way it worked out, would use it by itself also.) I do find after a bit of use it will produce some fine dust but started using some Flitz in the mixture and now little dust and cuts cleaning time down considerably.

rumor i heard on the web today:D....that a member by the name of stormbringer on a popular gun forum has a big bag of this walnut stuff...

maybe he could be bribed for a bit of it:welcome:

It's all I use & it works great. I add a drop of Dillon case polish to really shine up the brass. My local mom/pop style pet store carries it in 7lb bags as small pet litter so maybe you shold look at the smaller retail outlets rather than the big-box stores etc..

go to any auto parts store and ask for crushed walnut shell (sandblasting media) cheep by the 50lbs bag. way cheeper than a pet store and just as easly aquired.

You guys are putting Brasso into your media, think silvo will work?

Almost any metal polish will work. I myself have used Aluminum Mag Polish with great results.

I just tried Nu-Finish car polish the other day and it works equally as well at getting my brass super shiny and clean.
