Anyone tried the South African Surplus yet?

I haven't shot any yet, but the stuff I picked up today looks like complete sh*t compared to the Port stuff. The bullets all seem to be seated to different depths, and the overall finish is inconsistant, also the look and finish of the brass is quite poor.

I've shot lots of S.A 5.56 and 7.62 X39. I've never compared the bullet depth before but I've never had a problem with it.

Only had time to put 20 rounds down range but with better overall results that with Portuguese. Shot 4 x 5 shot strings of port then the same of SA through my Norc M14 and was getting smaller groups with the South African.

It's what districorp is distributing now through their dealer network. The folks down south have now run out of the SA and are quite dissapointed as they liked it. Sounds promising. :)

Tried some 223 and it was good stuff but DOn't Try to relaod it!!!! I made that mistake once.
seen an old guy shoot some surp 303 and accuracy was great.
Only 7.62 I shot was when the uncle still had a R1 from kommando  days and well did not shoot groups and even if we did I was 7 can't remember much

They're non-corrosive Berdan primed, 147gr Match FMJ bullet. Etc.

Mine look pretty darn good, and seat depths look consistent. I have noticed the slight roll crimp seems to be more on some and less on others though. Non-serrated cannelure on the bullets.

(I need to learn how to post pics.)

I got mine a Williams Arms in Port Perry Ont. Haven't shot any yet but I'm working on it. Cleaning the Norc tonight and trying to figure out a front sight misalignment issue.....

I thank god every day my wife has got into shooting.

"Oh look honey. TSE has a good price on SA surplus. Do you think we should get a few cases during Christmas while we are in town visiting relatives?"

Um- let me see now...

Time to buy em cheap and stack em deep.
