I was looking at these, and the price seems too good. Are they all gravy no meat? What type of reliability can I look forward to with these? Are they decently accurate? Any help will be appreciated, as I only own a .22 revolver and I am so-so in regards to a norinco. If these are no better than a norinco, then I may just save the 100 bucks or so and get one of those. Marstar will no doubt be my choice as I have bought a Pedersoli Billy Dixon 45/70 from them and they were excellent throughout the process.

I am sorry but that is one butt ugly handgun. What do I mean? NONE FOR ME, THANKS! Regards, Richard:)

Unproven, slide mounted safety, no after market support(that I know of), unnecessary access points to both barrel and recoil spring and all this priced a little less than a new Glock, M&P, or XD to name a few.

An whats wrong with a slide mounted safety?

Seems to work perfectly fine for me. (Yes the gun have been proven safe prior to.)

Grove,

External safeties are just one more step during the draw stroke as well as the reholster. Slide mounted safeties can and do cause issues when cycling the slide. I've seen more than a few shooters inadvertently apply the safety/decocker when cycling the slide.

In the computer world, we call those USER ERRORS. Emphasis is placed on the USER, because the USER is the one failing to manipulate the firearm properly.

In the shooting world they're known as operator errors. Slide mounted safeties are ineffective and a result of poor design. Much like Windows Vista.

Nothing's wrong! If you know what you're doing you won't hav eany problems...

I don't care about safeties, but I actually prefer slide to frame mounted safeties! I hear about this accidentally switching the slide safety ON, but I never had that happen with my Beretta, on the other hand I have flicked the frame safety 'ON' just by adjusting my grip on 1911...

Same issue with frame mounted safeties, just another step in the process. A DA pistol with frame mounted decocker like the SIG line or Glocks with their passive safeties are much faster to deploy than others.

Soooo...........ummm..........if they are so bad in combat, why the U.S. issue Beretta's?

Can't be that bad.

Again, nothing's wrong with a slide mounted safety...I even find it helpfull when I rack the slide; gives you something to grab on to. Unless you're a cluts, or do it unpurpouse you won't switch it ON. ;)

I have to agree with Lugger, the slide mounted safety is easy to use and provides another notch to grab on to if your grabing the slide from the back. I really don't have a preference for safeties though, just ceratin preferences for pistols.

My Jericho 9/41 ('Baby Eagle') has the slide mounted safety (de-cocker) and it definately took some getting used to... still not sure I'm crazy about it despite other excellent handling aspects of this firearm.

There's leading edge and there's bleeding edge... and they aren't giving these away, so unless you're prepared to run the risks, I'd stay away from the Zigana until it's a more proven platform.

As far as looks and aesthetics go that's relative... 'beauty is in the eye of the beholder'... I do not like the look of the M&P at all but I'd still consider buying one based on reviews re handling, accuracy, the available accessories, and the fact that the manufacturer is likely to be around next year.

17 responses, yet not one has said if they actually USED one before. How can anyone say they wouldn't like it, or the slide mounted safety is crap, etc, if they haven't actually picked one up and shot it?
I am only asking, as I kind of like the stainless version, and if it is remotely better than the norinco, then I will get one. I don't care how it looks, ugly guns shoot as well as pretty ones. Last time I looked, the gun range wasn't a fashion show, so ugly or not, I just want to know if the gun can put the bullets where I ask it to, or are there better options out there for 4-5 hundred dollars. (I.E. a Norinco)

no one complains about frame safteys but the first thing i got told when i shot a 1911 was that you have to ride your thumb on top of it or chances are you will knock it into place by accident
