Time to reactive an old thread.
So, does anyone have any real experience with this product? It sounds quite interesting, does it live up to it's billing?
In the meantime, before I get one of these things, maybe I will use a chrono for load development. A few quick questions for the more experienced guys.
I am going to be loading for the Russian 14.5 x 114mm Anti Tank round.
A number of us with big boomers have been searching in vain for ammo, but there is none to be had. So we make our own.
First, cases. Can't find empty cases, so I will make some from steel on a lathe. Once having turned the outside to correct dimensions, I will drill into the mouth and down towards the base. As the inner dimensions are parallel, not tapered like the external, it will have very thick walls at the base, so GREATLY reduced volume. This is actually a good thing, as modern powders are more efficient than WW2 vintage powder. Having a huge case partially filled with slow burning powder is dangerous, and can lead to Secondary Explosion Effect, so reducing the internal capacity is good.

Second, powder. I have no idea what powder was used back in 1942 in Russia. I will be using WC870 , WC872 , H870 or similar.
Third, primers. Again, no idea what was used 60 years ago. I will be using CCI 35 primers, as found in 50BMG rounds.
Fourth, bullets. The original round used a 1000 Gr bullet. I cannot simply buy one from Speer or Nosler, so I make my own brass lathe turned ones.
SO, the question is........
Keeping in mind that all four components have changed, I dont have any manuals to follow, and the only info I have is that the original round fired a 1000 Gr. bullet at about 3300 fps.
IF MY FIRST ATTEMPT IS FAIRLY CLOSE TO 3300 FPS, AM I SAFE? APPROXIAMATELY WHAT CHAMBER PRESSURE AM I RUNNING?
I look forward to all replies.
