While watching a trailer on Current's new SWAT:Miami-Dade series, I noticed an officer's optic setup on his carbine was an eotech in front of an acog. I believe this was during a night time raid in a Miami, Dade county suburb for a suspect who shot a cop in the face.

Wondering if he was trying to look badass for the camera guy or this setup has some tactical merit..

uhh no, take a look at the first optic, the one on the left, that deff looks like an acog and not a night vision. i think night vision is much bigger.

Looks like an Acog and I see no merit in that.

not unless he only had the eotech on and the acog off but there for maybe 1.5x magnification. but really, whats the point in running the eotech after? its useless, clutters the gun, and adds unneeded weight. but hey, if it looks cool

He's using his battle sights over the Acog, not through it.

Maybe he likes the eotech reticle and the 1.5x... It must work for him if he's taking it into a hot house. I've seen stranger setups.

I'm just guessing here but... If you look closely at the pic, does it look like the acog is offset to the left of the rifle? If so it makes sense that he can run the acog for longer range targeting and go to the eotech for CQB... Just a thought

On novan3's magnified pic it looks like the eotech is closer than the acog...

Larue makes an offset mount, but I've never seen it used for an acog.

Here's a pic

I've handled an M-4 that had that kind of setup, and it worked better than I'd have thought. Basically, he used the ACOG normally, but if he needed to ditch the optic zoom, he just quick released it and turned on the EOTech. Oh, and he's an RSO too! More recently though he's been using a red dot, with the 3x flip magnifier.
