Anyone undercut their glock on their own?

Glock Knuckle apparently happens to some folks when the factory trigger guard indent impacts or rubs their dominant hand when the gun recoils. I have a model 17 and I have not experienced this however it was the first thing my daughter noticed when she fired the pistol. I should note that I'm right handed and she's left handed.

Opinions on this run from OMG don't ever do that you 'll never be able to sell it!!!!! to hey it's just a piece of plastic don't worry about the looks. I did it because I prefer comfort and resale is not something I worry about.

There are lots of YouTube videos showing how to do it. I undercut my G19 last week using a dremel tool with a medium-coarse sandpaper drum, then taking finer sandpaper and smoothing any rough patches by hand. It isn't factory pretty but the difference is night and day. "Glock Knuckle" happens if you shoot in the hundreds at the range. The back corner of the trigger guard contacts the middle finger of your shooting hand and because the guard has a more squared 'corner" there it can transfer recoil energy. For a few mags - no big deal but on a long shooting day doing IPSC or drills it can cause discomfort.

Disconnect the slide, tape any places where debris may get in the frame, put the frame in a vice (soft jaws) and grind the area. Be careful not to go too hard as you want the plastic to be sanded away, not melt. Get it to where it feels comfortable but don't expect it to be factory perfect cosmetically. It may or may not affect your resale value depending on what a future buyer wants - comfort vs. looks. The sanded area will discolor (look grayish) a bit so I finished off by putting some gun oil on a patch and wiping the sanded area down so the plastic goes back to the same color as the rest of the frame.

However, before doing this try the various back straps that come with newer Glocks as sometimes adjusting your hold position with respect to your hand size will fix the issue. If you don’t have back straps they are available online from the US cheap (about $25-$30 US) and can be delivered within 10 days.
