I thought of doing this for quite a while. I have one that is very quit. You don't even know it's on. No noise. But I was always afraid that it may give off an odour and make the deer go the other direction. If you know what I mean. What is your guys take on this?

i,ve used them a few times...i used a 20 lb tank with a heater attached to it..iwould use a about 20 ft of a cammo burlap wrap about 3 feet high and make a small wall to cover me and the heater..
did it work?like a charm:D and still got my deer ..just dont use a heater that sounds like a jet takng off..as some of them are a bit noisy

I use one always in my deer blind. Tried several but found the Coleman 2 burner camp stove the quietest.

Ever had it going and shot a deer?

Dave.

I've used a catalytic propane heater in my blind (home-made scrapwood shack with tin roof) for several years during the December muzzleloader season, as well as a few times sitting over bait piles for coyotes. It doesn't produce any odour or sound that I can detect, and I've had several deer and one coyote within 50 or 60 feet of me without spooking. I definitely owe a few kills to the joy of having functional, non-frozen fingers.

Hunt Alberta style, drive lease roads with the heat cranked and when "Ol' Mossy Horns" steps out, plug him and by the time you get back to town you've already made up the impossible tale of how it really happened.

shouldn't have an odour if the propane is being burnt properly. Most pop up blinds are scent proof anyway, carbon lined.

Last year my buddy and I both picked up a Buddy heater. We run it on the 1lb bottles. works great. Quiet, no odor. We had a couple of females come in to about 50ft of his blind (wood shack with plexy glass windows.) on the last day we had a fawn around the blind for about 1 1/2 hours we kept turning the heater on and off several times and it did not bother the fawn. Then again it is a fawn. By the way do yourself a favour. Don't buy the colman sportcat. It's the biggest peice of cr*p on earth. It stinks and gives off little heat. Use the Mr Heater you won't regret it.
