My eyes aren't what they used to be and am having difficulty with irons nowdays. I have one M14 all tricked out with Krieger, trw, Jae and decent optics. My other one is currently in its classic state with boyds stock, turner sling and garand sights. I would like to keep this one as close to that as possible and am considering putting on an eotech in deferance to my failing eyesight. Any thoughts?

First off, if you have astigmatism, the eotech ring/dot will not be clear. I would look through one before you buy to verify you don't have that issue. No point in going any further if you do.

I've run on in the past on an ultimak and UTG.
Worked pretty good but later switched to a leupold prismatic on an arms 18.
It's only 1X but I like the 1moa dot and etched recticle cross hairs. I'll never go back. It's a 50 to "maybe" 300 yard CQB type rig optic wise.

I am a big fan of EOtechs. I own and use guns that mount all three major brands, but only one wins me over every time.

They may not be as balls to the wall reliable as an aimpoint or a Trijicon, but to be honest I have not been in a war zone where your optic means life or death, and despite that my 3 EOtechs have never failed me as long as I replace the batteries twice a year with quality batteries.

In my opinion, the EOtech has the fastest close quarters optic, with the best perhiperal vision, and a small MOA dot in the center for when accuracy counts.

Flip to side 3X Magnifiers can also be purchased and installed very easily by the end user, making the optic far more useful at ranges past 200 meters.

That is just me though, lets wait for the guys who only care about batteries that last through the end of the world, etc... :p

I have one on my 10 1/2 lmt and like it. I just want to know how one does on the m14 platform, and 100yds will be my max

Love mine. Never got this crying over battery life thing. If you go anywhere with your firearm and have no spair batt's then its your own damn falt. Every fall I replace the ones for my two hunting rifles, Then take two spairs. One is none people.

Anyone with a pic of an eotech on their M14? I'm considering possibly getting one as well. The Leupold prismatic looks interesting too.

Beware with eo's as they sit high on over the action scope mounts.

A cheek piece is recommended.

EDIT: have a little more time to type things out.

Make sure before you buy one that you look through it outside
Inside, if your eyes are bad, the reticle can become very blurry and washed out.

as for the battery life thing... AA batteries are easy to find here.

The eotech lends itself to be mounted in a scope configuration more than over the action.

It's ultra cool but I found it hard to see the target when tring to aim it quickly.

I agree... i have a sight mark QD instead only because i cant afford an eotech right now. I love the flip to side zoom behind it. Overseas i ran with an eotech and FTS 3x. loved it.

Eotech with a magnifier is a great set up. Before finally getting a proper scope mount for my m14 I tried out this setup borrowed from another one of my rifles. I almost sold the scope and bought another eotech and magnifier. My next M14 will probably be setup this way.

Exactly what I'm thinking about doing for my shorty 243 build ... hows this set up work for you?

I have the UTG tri-rail hand guard and I have bounced between an EOTech xps2 and an Aimpoint Comp ML2.

Both are awesome but I settled with the Aimpoint.

I like the 'Big Screen' view the EOTech gives you and may use the XR.308 version on my Blackfeather build.
