So I bought a camera. Has this HuntStand stuff built into it. It's a WGI Mirage 20 if anyone is interested.

I had a quick look on the HuntStand website, created an account, played for about 5 minutes. I'm not sure if I see much use for it, maybe I am missing something.

If anyone uses it and finds it useful can you let me know what you do and why it is useful?

Thanks,
Corey

I use it to show me what the wind is doing in the area that i plan to hunt. Nice to know where to set up when goose hunting when you can see the wind direction the night before. Same with deer hunting if you plot out each of your stands you can check wind direction and choose to hunt whichever stand and plan accordingly based on wind/scent direction.

Hunstand is a pretty awesome app when downloaded on your phone or tablet. It also will let you upload your trail camera pictures to the app and when you review them, has all of the pertinent weather information with the photo based on where and when it was taken. To use it on a PC, you have to log into the website, there is not a download for computer.

They made a deal with WGI for more enhanced analysis of the trail camera data if you used a newer version WGI camera. None of mine have S/N's that will work as they are older models, and I have vowed never to buy another WGI camera after having scads of issues with the ones I bought.

If you set up your preferred hunt location on the app, it will give you all the weather and wind information you will need, as well as an overlay of your hunt location showing where your scent dispersal will be based on forecasted winds.

I really like the app - used it recently on a deer hunt in Kansas and I use it all the time for my deer and wolf hunting stands.

And the best part - its FREE!

Hope this helps
