Anyone use shooting stix ?

Also, sorry to be a PITA here, but the term 'shooting stick' properly refers to the fold-down walking sticks that convert into a seat, if you look at the packaging on your gun steadying version you'll likely see they call it a 'trigger stick.'

I'm old as moon rocks, I call things how I remember them called.
I'm not up on the new lingo.

I ended up with the PRIMOS trigger stick bipod, on clearance at CABELAS online
Added a box of ammo to get the free shipping.

OK, but shooting sticks are much much older than the johnny-come-lately trigger sticks, which is why they should own the word! And yeah, those Cabelas prices are pretty darn good.

Weird occurance at checkout....promotion code for free shipping did nit apply to any order containing ammo.....strange, last week the had an OVER $49 Free shipping offer, and I bought 2 boxes of ammo and it shipped free.

I wonder if it's because the Primos Trigger stick is a large item....

It's very odd because I did a checkout with just the Trigger Stix and it charged me an oversized fee.

Went back added a pair of gloves and checked out and got free shipping.

Crazy

I'm fortunate to have a store nearby and have everything I order from them online shipped there, which is free.

Primos trigger sticks are the way to go. I’ve got the monopod and tripod. They work great and not too heavy. The tripod comes with a camera adapter so you can stick a spotting scope or chrono or whatever on it too

Here is another shooting stick tip... the shock-corded type usually have a bungie cord on the top to hold them together when folded... that cord will hold your phone in place and angling the sticks correctly turns them into a decent Tripod (bipod in this case) for taking selfie photos with game, when an extra pair of hands is not present.

I never used shooting sticks; I praciticed freehand, sitting and kneeling at under 150 yards. Best position is using a tree for stability. I always have a bi-pod attached and utilize it beyond that distance, not unless a bi-pod cannot be attached.

I’ve been using a set like this for about 20 years that I made out of old aluminum arrows and tent pole bungee cord. They’ve come in handy many times while taking longer shots with no suitable rest.

Cheap and easy to make.

I shot my last pronghorn at 300 yards, from a standing position, with the Triggersticks. Because of the rolling hills, I would not have been able to see the kill zone of the buck, unless I was standing. Even the tallest Harris bipod would have been useless.

I could see them coming in handy if you hunt wide open flatland or rolling hills, I personally don’t use them as there’s generally something to rest off of or I sling up tight and take a knee or am sitting when I’m in an ambush type of scenario.

The op looks like the bog sticks. I have a set of them, I use them when tromping around for coyotes with my winter rifle. Great for the price, adaptable to different shooting positions. What are they 50 bucks? Strap to the side of my day pack and I'm good to go.

I started using a bog deathgrip tripod last winter when I got a cabelas gift card for Christmas. I parked it behind my shop and shot a lot of coyotes off it. Only complaint is its not made for a 6'-4" 49 yr old, my back hurts after an evening of crouching over it.

I spend a lot of time looking through the scope so a couple more inches of height would be welcome.

Only other improvement I would make would be a stronger lock on the vertical axis. My yard rifle is 18+ lbs, it is too heavy for the deathgrip.

ive got similiar, has a lever that extends an retracts the legs.... its kind of usefull....but i dont use it much.

i typically stalk.

so if im sit an waiting i may carry it in--

alternatively i have used it for walkin around paddocks at night , night shooting- gives support an often a free hand to wave the torch or keep torch on critter.

i plan on having my partner use it for her hunting initially, as it will give quite a good rest / support for sit an wait for her first deer

I use when needed an Allen brand, Canadian Tire bought shooting stick that also doubles as a walking stick. It was $40-50 about 4 years ago.

It is light, +-5.5 feet total length and has 3 telescopic sections that are very easy to adjust to desired length. About 1.5 ft long when folded in. Shooting distance up to +-400 meters, usually under 300 m.

some pro tips going on here

if you don't have all these in the truck to choose from;

9-13" Harris swivel
13-27" Harris swivel
Typical sitting height shooting sticks
Trigger sticks that can do blind chair height to standing height

then what are you even doing out there? ;)

oh and the Harris 6-9" for the bench lol...and the rear bag, sometimes caldwell tack driver bag, it's a lot of shooting aids but a guy's gotta have em

played with new primos trigger stick gen 3 and danged if it doesn't spread them legs far enough to do ground sitting height now so it's good for chair and standing and ground sitting, just a Harris 9-13" swivel or the pack for prone stuff and all done with one stick if you want

not feeling the single pole option...no left to right stability just your elevation is covered, much happier when two feet are spread apart
