i had the crazy idea of trying to use my cell phone and my spotting scope together to get a video of me blowing up apples with my remy 700. thought it would make for a fun video. wondering if anyone has done it and if you have any tips for success in doing so?

dont have an i phone but id gladly miss the target and hit the iphone :D

this is more for my buddy to hold the phone and look through the scope while i shoot. although back to the iphone thing, ebay has some lenses you can get for the i phone that apparantly zoom it in quite a bit. looks a little weird and probably doesnt work that well.

found one actually. interesting concept but im sure its about as ood as a crappy tire spotting scope

I took a picture thru my scope with my camera phone. Its hard to focus. Like said before if you can just put the camera closer to the target it would make life alot easier. Just trim the video to length when done.

I took this on the 15th of May.... and no, I wasn`t hunting deer with my HMR. Hard part is holding cell on center at correct distance... worked out okay I guess. By the time I had it all right, all I got a picture of was deer bum. Probably not the best way to take a picture or your wife or the neighbors new car.

haha ok so that works then. the video link was interesting aswell ill have to look into that.

i tried this real quick today at the range and had a hard time with it. ill have to play with it some more next time im out there. i tried putting it right against the eye piece and pulled it back a little and it wasnt working out for me. ill get it sorted out now that i know it works :D

we have binoculars at work to watch the building being built next door (we are a building systems design company so cool to see out designs being built) took this using them and my phone when this genius was on a huge forklift putting up a canucks flag on a power pole without a saftey harness

why wouldn't you use it to take a picture of your wife? :p

1) Buy a cheap video camera, I picked up a decent enough one for $60 on sale
2) Grab a cheap scope with FIXEd magnification.
3) Build something out of wood that you clamp the scope onto and then have it so the camera fits behind the scope at the perfect distance.

Paging mmatt! Are you here?!

No Drache, I'm not here... oh wait, yes I am. NM.

Anyway, I had built a rig to hold my cam behind a scope and it worked OK. Then I shot the camera accidentally and bought a new with a way better zoom lens. Problem solved.

So to sum up, shoot your crappy camera "accidentally" and buy a better one. :p

haha yeah when i saw accidentally i knew what kind of accident it was, lol. the same kind my alarm clock is gonna have soon. ill place that ##### infront of the gong at 200y and rip a hole in it, lol

Ok if you want to do it that way then just do it the way I did, have camera near the target with a long cord running from it to your laptop on the shooting bench recording live. :D
