Anyone use Wet ceramic tumbling before?

Hello All

I was wondering if anyone out there have done any ceramic wet tumbling before? Just wanted to know how it turned out.

I saw a few posts by people using ceramic media successfully, although the majority of us wet-tumble with stainless. Go with the flow, perhaps? ;)
 
I use SS right now, but if I could find an inexpensive source I'd try it.
Same with the SS round tumbling media. I've head rumour's about it but have never found a source for it.
 
All I use now is SS, by far the fastest, best method I have used. The only down side is you have to be 100% sure the brass is dry before reloading it. The up side is the brass both inside and outside including the primer pocket looks factory new.
 
I know someone south of the border who wet tumbles with ceramic media.
He uses angle cut cylinders for pistol cases and round balls the size of BB's for rifle cartridges.
The angle cut cylinders get stuck in rifle brass such as .223 cases.

The look of the cartridges is slightly superior to those done in SS pins.
They look more polished lacking the minuscule pits SS media leaves on the cartridges but the flash holes aren't as clean.

The cost of the ceramic media is double that of SS pins.

I use the SS pins myself.
 
I have used ceramic media a few years ago.. i used both angle cut cylinders and small spheres.. bought both at Cabelas.. I still have them in the basement.. LOL.. The problem with ceramic media is it (angle cut cylinders) get stuck in the smaller pistol cases like 9mm and 40 cal. The round media does not clean the primer pockets unless you get a smaller size..

As soon as i found out about SS pins i went in that direction.. much better in my opinion..

I have followed those posts from a few years ago, and it seems most who used to use ceramic media now use SS pins.
 
I spent a bunch of money on a vibratory tumbler, and i'll be replacing it with Stainless one of these days. I hate the residue that is left with the vibratory tumbler and the conventional medias.
