Anyone used the new Hornady Bullet Feeder ?

In the affirmative, how does it compare to Mr Bullet Feeder ?

I posted the same thread in action shooting but without any post so I thought I may have more answers here

The scarce info I saw indicates early next year. Looks like RCBS feeder but with better (all-steel) dies for each caliber. I'll be getting the dies & building the collator myself (or so I hope).

Right on for the collator, it is the same thing, but Hornady bullet feeding die is all-metal while RCBS has plastic fingers that wear out, theoretically speaking.

Somewhat off-topic: a while ago, there was a discussion on several forums about how Hornady's PTX puts unnecessary strain on powder drop linkages. One guy proposed a solution: sort of a brace, adjusted to take the force required to bell the case & not to pass it onto linkages. Now, look at Hornady's bullet feeder video: you can clearly see that brace on the powder measure! I wonder if we are going to see it as a Hornady product soon...

I just made my own for about 2 bucks, it works great...:) I am waiting on a new style of PTX from powderfunnel.com and I am hoping for better results from it than the Hornady ones....

LOL you mean the bracket/slider thingy? Me too, took a turn buckle from CanadianTire, fits right on. Did powderfunnels come up with a new design, or are you just ditching Hornady PTX for their universal one?
 
Ya thats what i am talking about, I never did buy the ptx stuff from Hornady i just borrowed them from a friend to try them, didn't like them and gave them back to him...

I ordered the universal ptx from powder funnel because i am going to need something if i ever get my bullet feeder and from what I have been reading its the only way to go...:) Or maybe even get the PTX's from Hornady that are for lead as they may actually flair the case mouth properly...

Too rich for my blood, but Hornady bullet seating dies + homemade collator may be just the ticket. Besides, I like to tinker with things, I consider it time well wasted ;)

I was stupid enough to order the powderfunnels PTX to my friend's address in the US because I was about to visit him in July. Sure thing, it arrived 2 days after I came back home. Still trying to remind my buddy now & then to go to a post office & ship the damn thing.

I would love to but it all comes down to dollars and cents and the fact that most of the time thats limited, so for the price point and support I am going to try the Hornady unit and see what happens...

Its is more of a experiment for me, do i really need a bullet feeder probably not but I want to try one and see, if i find it to be a pain to set-up and change calibers it will be gone in a heart beat...:)

Do you have a case feeder? I know most people buy case feeder then bullet feeder. I find my case-feeding skills are better than bullet-feeding ones. Besides, I'd like to examine the cases at some point before loading them, to weed out NTs, cracked brass, etc.
 
Yes I have a case feeder, I can load a hundred rounds in 8 to 10 min so I am not too sure what to expect from a bullet feeder, we will see...As far as looking at brass i can usually tell if there is a problem when loading, I check the 9mm I load with a chamber gage after to ensure proper feeding when shooting IDPA or IPSC it works for me so far...:)
 
I have been using the ptx from powder funnels for some time now, after much frustration with the hornady ptx in 9mm, I bought one. You will not be disappointed, it works awsome.
 
Well I received my Hornady bullet feeder yesterday from CGN member Henry Nierychlo, thanks again Henry...:D

I had it set up and adjustments made in under a hour and loading .45 acp...So far it works great...

The dies for the bullets are caliber specific and each one comes with the PTX expander not a bad deal considering they are only $28 each, the bullet feeder was suppose to be shipped with the PTX adjustable stop bracket but mine was missing...:( One is on the way from Hornady...

The feeder is direct drive just like the case feeder and appears to be well made and is what I expected from Hornady...The adjustments are easy and I predict caliber change over to take less than 5min after each of the dies are set up as only the middle plate and two wipers need adjustment...

I loaded 50 rounds last night with out a hitch and watched it feed a few hundred bullets during my testing and set up and not one made it into the tube the wrong way, I was using AIM 230 gr copper plated round nose...

I am looking forward to the riffle bullet conversion that is promised to come out sooner or later....:D
