Anyone used the new Hornady Bullet Feeder ?

Not yet as I have only loaded a few .45's, I really don't shoot allot of 45 so the big test will be when I receive my 9mm die...I would assume it should cut a couple of min per hundred, it is kind of neat not to be reaching for the bullets and getting your hand caught on the press...It lets you concentrate on whats going on with all of the stations and making sure every thing is going as planed...:)
 
How does the caliber specific dies work? If they come out with a rifle version, will a 30 caliber die be able to do any 30 caliber cartridge?

I'm pretty sure I'll try either the Hornady or RCBS out eventually, but I'm waiting for them to get more calibers in use.
 
The dies are made for a specific caliber range, I would have to read the 4 that I have to be sure what the ranges are, but the 45 will also do 44...If the rifle bullet fits in the range you could use the same die as far as I am concerned, I may be wrong but I don't see why not...

The dies are a two colet design and are all steel, they work very slick...The unit did come with a set-up video that is quite informative and little slow...I would assume it will be on the Hornady site soon...

Looks like I was wrong the 44 and 45 dies are different....

Comparing that to Mr. Bulletfeeder, that's really nice - and it doesn't look like a reject from the plumbing department.

Don't get me wrong, I like my Mr Bulletfeeder - it was the cats ass for the few years I've had it - but this looks pretty sweet.
 
I was really surprised to see the PTX expanders in the die package for each caliber as they are usually 10 bucks each on there own...I am not going to use them as I ordered a Powder funnel PTX and it appears to be working so far, I am wondering if the Hornady PTX's will make the flair a little deeper as some of my bullets were tipping in the cases, I guess I will have to try it when I get the stop adjuster....

Then buy the GSI. Far and away the best fit and finish of the three. Of course...it doesn't actually work ;) ...but it does look good!
 
Style is always better than efficiency... at least that's what I say to myself when I look at my performance on IPSC matches videos... you can't see my score on the tape so style is everything ! :p
 
I wasn't too sure about that hornady one until I saw the video, which said they were coming out with a rifle bullet conversion. Pistol feeder only, no use to me, Rifle and pistol, I am all over it.

Putting in the order this week, and will see how it works on my 1050. :D
 
I got the .40S&W PTX & bullet feeder die installed today, and am having a hard time making the bullets stay upright. The feeder die comes without instructions - and I don't have the feeder yet. A kind soul at thehighroad posted them for me: looks like I am over-expanding the case by 50%: .044" OD over the bullet diameter, instead of .030". Still, some bullets just tip over, while others can almost be pushed into the case by hand. Could this be caused by different case lengths? I don't sort by headstamp, maybe the bullet feeder is sensitive enough.

Now that I've got instructions I'll regroup & try again tomorrow...
