anyone uses .460 roland conversion kit on 1911?

Another way is simple to use cut down 308 brass and ramp up the pressure. Looks like you can get away without a fully supported barrel but that may vary given the loads you want to use. Look up the 45Super and similar wildcats.

Big recoil spring seems to be the most notable change.

Contact Armsco and talk to gunnar. He has been playing with this for a bit.

I would skip the 460 Roland and give Gunnar at Armco a call for some brass and loading data for his 45-08 Armco. I think you might have problems getting 460 ammo or brass up here in Canada too.

I tried some loads in the 45-08 and it sure does pack a punch! You're getting in the 44 Magnum range by only changing the ammo.

You can't just "cut down 308 brass". You have to also machine down the 308 wall thickness so that the bullet will fit.

If you already reload your own ammo you should give it a try. The brass sized and machined down isn't cheap (about $1/case) but if you are carrying it for bear defence it's cheaper than buying another gun.

I had Gunner convert my Spring Field Armory Operator to use the 45-08's. 200 gr lead bullets doing 1400 fps :) Long as I'm deligent with the reloads I have no failures to feed or eject. I believe depending on the pistol there are several mods that gunner preforms. Mine required recoil spring, shock buffer and a heavier firing pin. I also can still fire regular 45 acp no problem. Just don't expect to ever find your brass.....lol. It really goes for a trip.
