Anyone uses their top rail for a sling attachment?
I currently have (if my rifle worked) only one sling attachment point on my rifle, been thinking on adding a railed sling attachment (not necessarily magpul) on my ultimak.
I can see how it could be a problem though, the ultimak being mounted with rings to the barrel, slinging the rifle on the ultimak could be tilting the rail

experiences? toughts?

I took off the original sling attach point and put a rail there. Made a good backing plate for it and put it on the side of the synthetic stock. I have a UTG rail but I didn't like the idea of introducing a twisting force on the rail itself.

I just mounted 2 short rails, at 3 and 9 o'clock on the forestock. Drilled the stock, put backing plates in side and jbwelded obver them. I put a quick detach sling swivel on the left hand rail to run my 3 point sling. Works like a charm

dont have a m14 anymore, but I second thought it and I didn't think it was a good idea afterall.

as perforator mentions, the weight of the rifle and the way rails attach to it would induce twist force, rendering any optic mounted on top useless (induced horizontal POI shift)
