I'm out of Power Pistol and want to use up what I have on hand for 9mm; which is IMR HiSkor 800X and Hodgon Universal powders. I loaded some 800X trial loads 5.3gr behind 125gr Frontier Plated and thought it was rather mind load.. What loads do you guys like with those two behind 124gr bullet?

ps I have an IMR load booklet form 2005 and the loads are WAY different from the current stuff on their site. (loads are much lower now).

My Lyman 48th Reloading manual lists these loads for a 125 grain JHP.

UNIVERSAL - 4.0 grains @ 880 fps / 17,400 CUP and 4.5 grains @ 1042 fps /29,300 CUP maximum.

Nothing for 800X.

My new reloading mag, list it @ 147 grain bullet using 800x @ 4 grain @882 fps @28,900psi , so usable . It only slightly slower then power pistol. But nothing on lighter bullets.
Cheers

^^ older loads show 6.5gr compressed as a max load!! idk how they went went down that much. 5.3gr felt pretty mild compared to my usual power pistol load

I hear ya...and there listing it as max load! And you should start at 10% lower..The book is a mag that comes out every month.. The Complete Book of Reloading, is what it's called, should be able to find a copy on the new stands some where. I'm in Kingston area, so..the Big Ham should have it. :) Hell they list HS-6 @ 5 grains @885/27900. So 800x must be a little faster.... I've used shotgun powder in the pass , with good success.
I keep shotgun powder for...my shot (LOL) and as a back up for 231 and HS-6 , both seem to be really available, for know!

I have a powder call "Promo" its shotgun powder, I've used it for my 9mm JR @ 4.7gr, and works well, but it's very dirty!!

X2 ganderite, using a Lyman #55 powder measure with tapping I had bridging, almost nothing in one case, almost a double in the next. Caught on visual inspection.

Hodgdonreloading.com has loads for 9mm. In handguns I guess it's supposed to be best for bigger calibers like 10mm 357 and 44mag
