Anyone using tactical style hunting vest.

I've been thinking of making my own but for now I use an old Brit combat jacket that has big enough pockets for most of my crap and a small backpack.

I may just sew on a few more pockets to the combat jacket and add a game pocket across the back and be done with it.

There was once a truism among British soldiers that you should be able to live for a day with what's in your pockets and a week with what's in your belt rig. Not sure how that translates with all the batteries and other consumables the troops need today.

well having worn several patterns of issued webbing and load bearing jackets and vest I can't say I would have enough pockets to survive a week without my backpack/rucksack in the field.

There is not a single issued belt or vest that I would use for hunting, and certainly not my current chest rig, they are all too specialized and not set up for hunting gear.

Now from my days working in forestry a cruise vest would be a fairly good option, but again would need some customization.

In my earlier hunting years, I used a cruiser vest. It was red and had lots of pockets and a large back pouch for game birds etc.
