I only started reloading last summer but its time to get my anneal on. I decided to skip the torches and turn tables and mechanical devices etc. Got my AMP annealer from X Reload last week. Seemed like the way to go...

I have no doubt it does work good for you. As a newer reloader I figured eliminate all the guess work, variables and, trial and error. And torches blazing away. Let technology and the amazing amount of research AMP does do the work for me. But you do pay for that for sure.

Used annealeez for 18 months, i have nothing but praise for this machine.
Just sold it and received my amp mkll today.

The main reason for the switch, is because i just added a 2nd rifle caliber to reload.
There wasn’t much guess work as tempilac 650 was working for me.
But having 2 different calibers would of meant playing back and forward with torch settings, and i didn’t feel it.

Plus i admit the amp was a tempting machine for while, can’t go wrong with it.

Same here. I'm reloading 3 calibers and like how I can type in a code and be rolling right away. Do one every 2 seconds exactly the same consistency every single time. I'm kind of a fan of no flame in the house too.

That's another thing that sold me. He and his son are super engaged and communicate with the community. Obviously very passionate and doing their best. Those guys know the real in a and outs of brass like nobody. They are even testing different lots from different manufacturer's and have an insane amount of info charted online. Impressive.

Unless you have the money for it I'd say go with the salt method. Search "salt annealing" in the forum. I do it and like it very much.

I had the ballistics recreation salt annealing kit and sold it.
My reload room is a 100% finished room.
I couldn’t bring myself to handle 500 degrees liquid in this environment.
So before amp, a torch annealer was the best for me.

If you got a garage, i agree, that salt annealing is the second best process out there,
And costs 150$ rather than 2000$.

I still like the torch. Works just fine. I don’t like the idea of the salt method. Just another thing to have to set up and cool down and put away. I can light my torches up in 1 second and get to work. Shut down with a turn of a valve. Easy peasy.

Pity you don't live closer! I could be saving so much money... hahahha!
I think it was a good decision... especially now that the warranty was increased from 1 year to 3 years.

When you get it, can you please find out, if AMP tracks lifetime annealed brass amount?

Cheers,

I received the machine, a funny piece of equipment.
My wife would have a fit if she new that a black box that goes tick tick tick when I insert a brass case cost me 2K!
Yes if you we're closer you could have at it all you want!

Just sent AMP an email, I am now curious too.

EDIT : Got a reply

Hi Martin,

The latest version of software includes a counter for both manual and amp mate modes.
You may need to install the latest version when you un box it as it was probably shipped with an older version.
