I was handling one recently and am thinking seriously of purchasing the 94 trails-end hunter round barrel in 25-35. Does anyone have some first hand experience about fit and finish, reliability, how they like the new tang mounted safety? Are they accurate for small deer and coyotes out to 200 yards? Thanks, Peter H.

No,

But I knew an old First Nations guy that used to shoot his deer, moose, black and grizzly bears with his.

When I met him (he was in the hospital with my Mom) he perpetually wore a cowboy hat, so I asked him if he'd had a saddle gun, and he said yes, so I asked him if it was a 30-30.

"Nope, 25-35 -- shoot 'em right here," he said, pointing to his ribs.

Where did you find the 25-35? My dad has had one for years and I would really like to get one as well just haven't been able to find. This is a nice little cartridge out to 150 yards for dear.

25-35

Lebaron's has them for sale. The caliber has been reintroduced into the 94 line as of this year. I believe they are $489 or so if memory serves me correctly. At about 2500 fps with a 117 grain bullet I would think they would kill a deer dead out to 200 yards? But of course you've got to do your part and put the bullet where it is supposed to go.

I have an old '94 in 25-35, its a good little gun and shoots great. I haven't shot any deer with it, but i'm gonna try it out on coyotes this winter
