Out huntin' last week near Woodstock and have been told from the land owner that there a good number of coyotes in the area. His neighbour 2 farms down on his fence row a few dens there. His neighbour sees once in a blue moon about 6 or 8 or so running around together. This even makes me nervous wandering to and from my stand in the dark, so much as I dont care that I walk in and out in the dark with my gun loaded, that many together makes them slightly fearless. Buddy shot on last Saturday and I just about got one that same morining. Now I think its time to eradicate (sp.?) some of these things, if a couple of the neighbours will comply. Does anyone have a caller or decoy and wish to help us out some day?

ha ha well I would also say i'm up for the job but it looks like you have plenty of people for that. it sounds like there are plenty around for everyone this year! good luck!

its known fact that a pack of 7 coyotes will kill and devour every man within a 5 mile radius. walk careful

your forgetting this in ontario..so its get,s reduced to 7 yotes will eat and devour every man ,woman and child within 100 yards of any tree:runaway:
and twice as many on a sunday, because there is no hunting on sunday:p

you're kidding right? it's a COYOTE! :runaway:

It's not outta the question to think that a pack are indeed capable of attacking a man. There are plenty of cases every year of people in parks, children in playgrounds etc. being attacked even by lone coyotes.

On one occassion years ago I had a pack of (how many?) all around me while hiking out from trout fishing after dark. They were yipping back and forth and close enough that I could hear their footsteps trotting in the leaves, and this went on for several minutes and a few hundred yards, while I'm pretty sure they were sizing me up.I dug out and opened up my menacing 4" lockblade:rolleyes: and started talking out loud and they finally buggered off,but it was more than a little creepy at the time with them being so close and seemingly fearless.

:D:D

I try to get attacked by coyotes every weekend, no luck yet. I dont think you have anythign to worry about.

A question for those of you, particularly in the west, who hunt coyotes on a regular basis: is it normal to see them running in packs of 6 to 8 animals? My impression was that they are pretty solitary and run in pairs at the most as a rule. When we see packs here in Ontario I was under the impression that they were generally coyote/ feral dog mixes or just strictly feral dogs.
