Anything good for finding backroad maps/GPS/locating areas to look at?

Im a pretty new hunter in British Columbia, Prince George, this is my second year out. I had lots of luck last year with grouse after allot of failed attempts found the perfect spot where I took 3 and missed 2 in just 1 hr. I do plan to go explore deeper but not knowing were i'm going is difficult to gauge if its worth the walk if its going to end soon. Basically I would drive with a buddy and just hop out and explore random back roads knowing where they exist or remembering if we went down them before.

This year i'm getting set up for deer and don't want to waste time and gas on worthless trails. Looking for something to replace my maps and hopefully has GPS and even more if possible. Any ideas of something good? Thanks!

Any options to put apps on a windows based tablet? Stuff like offline GPS and Calls?

I spend time with Google Earth and mark down the co-ordinates of roads where they
join/turn/split then mark the way points on my GPS.
This works especially well if you plan a route to find a lake or some pre-determined
area.
Takes the guess which way to go when you hit a T or Y and such.
