Anything Missing!?

What would purpose would these fill? i always thought my 06 would do work just fine on anything to large for my 22 250

Well by that reasoning you could lose the 30 cals and say a 375 would do everything too big for 22-250.
I agree with Neilm. You and I both need a few more like 243, 25 cal, 6.5 mm, 280, 7mm. ☺

You have a pretty good selection of calibers going now. If you want to fill it in you may want to go with a mid-range varmint/big-game round such as the 25-06 or a 260/6.5 something. On the heavier end I use both the 338 WM and the 375 H&H and I find the recoil, although heavy to be quite tolerable but my rifles both weigh enough to tame it out some. I would recommend either or both of those calibers to you. I find the recoil on both, more like a big rolling hard shove (specially on the 375) then the sharp blast snap kick of the 300 Win Mag you have now, and actually prefer it over the latter. Don't go buying a 338 in a Tikka T3 Light and expect to enjoy shooting it...lol.

7mm mag 338 winch mag 375 h&h mag 458 winch mag covers everything all are available in the used market
most used guns are well looked after in Big bore

From my perspective you have most NA hunting situations covered so now it's more a toy than a niche that REALLY needs filling.......and the obvious toy answer is the "TRUE KING" of the medium bores, with more than 100 years acceptance and experience.........THE (drum roll) 375 Belted Magnum as produced by Messers Holland and Holland..........Absolutely every rifle enthusiast should own one of these for at least part of his life........now is your time !!!!!!!!!! If you leave this life without ever owning a 375 H&H you go to a different sector "UP THERE" and are not allowed to associate with the former owners of 375 H&Hs as you don't meet the criteria of a "true believer" if you never ever owned one. You see this is the one flaw that the 375 Ruger advocates can never overcome, it's not about ballistics, or effectiveness on game or ease of feeding........it about where you're going to end up if you never own a 375 H&H.

Disclaimer;...This little dissertation was written in humor and was not meant to offend any religion or the more pious of the CGN readership. Nor is it seriously meant to imply that I have any greater insight into the criteria required to enter the "Kingdom of Heaven", "The House of Allah" or the "Great Nervana" any more than those teachings would tell us.

That is a given..........The quandary arises when they own both the 270 and 375 H&H.............Then I think it comes down to game count or something like that.

Well..... I guess I am good to go... No .270 in the bunch and a nice "true king" at the top of the heat......

Problem won't be chamberings, but may be all the other stuff I have done....... Lol

It depends on the fit of the rifle, but, about as much as a 12ga 3' magnum.

That is what I have heard as well, but I can say that my 375 with 300gr bullets is much more pleasant to shoot than my shot gun with 3" 1oz slugs. I'm guessing much of this is due to weight, rifle is an estimated 8.5-9lbs with scope and the shotgun is probably more like 6-6.5lbs. Also the 12.5" barrel on the shot gun probably makes for a lot more muzzle blast than the 20" barrel on the 375 Ruger.....and the rifle has a much nicer/softer recoil pad, all those factors combine to make the felt recoil seem much less violent in the rifle.

Dear Lord, what have I done and why did no one inform me of my pending heresy before I bought that infernal 375 Ruger?

Thank you Douglas for showing me the path to salvation so that my heathen soul may still be salvaged. Superbrad, you let me know if you're planning on parting with that beautiful new RSM you just got, my soul may depend on it, think of that before you reply, I know you would not want that on your conscience.......

Didn't you read Douglas' post?

I don't need to have a conscience..... I have a .375 H&H and that's all that matters :)

Don't you see, you can save us both. He clearly stated that current AND former owners of the 375 H&H will be saved, if you sell yours to me you will qualify as the latter and I as the former, win-win right? : )

Seriously though, nice aquisition on that RSM, gorgeous rifle.

SB is right about moose, unfortunately if injured and there is water around - they head for it. Kill them fast is my motto.

And, of course c-fbmi is always right, cannot do a lifetime without a .375 H&H. :)

last year I did some northern BC moose hunting in OCT. took 3 300 win mag 180gr pills to put down a big bull. thank god I practice fast follow up shots lol, the 300 for me seems like such an in between cartridge, I would much rather have a 30-06 and a 338/375
Don't be fooled into thinking that your 300 magnum was at fault for the moose not tipping over at the first shot. This is the typical moose reaction to shot no matter what they are shot with. The first moose I ever shot with a 375Magnum was hit three times in the lungs with no reaction to the hits whatsoever. It would have died at the first shot. I have seen this same reaction in other moose some of which were shot with heavier bores.

Shhhh..... I am trying to justify a rifle purchase here...... :)

You see gentlemen, it should now become abundantly clear as to why I have three 375 H&Hs, a 375 Ruger, 375 Wby and a 378 Wby..........I have all the basis covered just in case I got flawed information..............and the multiple 375 H&Hs in case the info is good but I may need a little more "good will" than most and I can't afford a slight clerical error..........add to this that I have 4 that were formerly in my life and I past on so others my be so blessed..........

See..... I have conflicting info...... It was my understanding that, not only do you have to own the true king..... You have to take game with said rifle..... And your "special place in the happy hunting grounds" depends upon how much game you take with it..... And said game is not measured by the head, it is measured in pounds of game......

You are most assuredly going to be sitting at the right hand.... Me, well, I have to get busy or I will be so ding eternity in the happy hunting grounds chasing squirrels with an air rifle...... So far, I have one 180 pound whitetail taken with a Zastava true king..... Not gonna get me far.....
