Anything Missing!?

I like to think metric and figure a guy should have everything from a 4.5mm rifle all the way up to a 10mm....in 0.5mm increments. Also you could choose to have 3 of a certain caliber for short/medium/long range like a 7mm-08, 7x64, and 7mm magnum....

sorry for the OP but i need to get the forgiveness from Doug: if one for no reason is no more usinga 375hh but a wagner, a 375 princess and the brass of 375hh for a 340 (due to your advices and fault) will that give me some hope lol .... thanks in advance Doug

And said game is not measured by the head, it is measured in pounds of game......

You are most assuredly going to be sitting at the right hand.... Me, well, I have to get busy or I will be so ding eternity in the happy hunting grounds chasing squirrels with an air rifle...... So far, I have one 180 pound whitetail taken with a Zastava true king..... Not gonna get me far.....

180 is not to shabby, if it is per quarter...

It is not up to me Phil, I cannot give forgiveness, nor can I negotiate for your soul........all I can do is share this important information with those I care about.............

It looks like you have the plinking, predator and scattergun thing covered. For BG rifles are in a general sort of way divided into light, medium and heavy and you have nothing in the medium and heavy categories.

Nobody gets into the happy hunting grounds without a well travelled .375 or larger that was suitably used on large/dangerous game though there are no shortage of those that searched for loop-holes. They get sent to the tropical place where they are doomed to an eternity of using nothing but bushnels.

I dont think that the OP has 'plinking' covered, I think that you need a centerfire semi that eats cheap ammo. Flame suit donned:

SKS

Yeah I just did that...

Pretty much all hunting calibres are covered... I would also consider something between 22wmr and 22-250, such as 22 hornet or .17 center fire cals (.17 hornady hornet and rem etc)... Something in cz 527

You're missing a cool 6mm something or 6.5mm something or 7mm something that shoots super high BC bullets with minimal recoil for extra long range.....Or are you just thinking about hunting? Get an SMLE then send it in to get "converted" to a 45-70 which of course was used at some very long ranges in its heyday

I don't see any Weatherby cartridges how about a 460WBY! It's big, its fast, its perfect!

30-06 Bolt
300 Win Mag Bolt
30-30 Lever

22-250 Bolt

22 WMR Bolt
10/22 22lr

20 Ga Double
12 Ga Semi

IMO...

You are covered for rimfire and shotgunning...

With the .22/250 you are covered for varmints/predators...

You have duplication in the .30/06 & .300 WM, if you were looking for a single "do all" rifle, I would say keep the .300 WM but since you want to shoot a broader collection, I would say keep the .30/06 (sell the WM).

The holes in your collection are between .22 cal and .30 cal... and some sort of mid-bore...

A quarter bore, 6.5mm or 7mm of your choice will plug the lowend hole... and a .35 cal - .375 cal will give you a comfortable upper option.

My picks would be a .257 Roberts and 9.3X62 if you want to be cool or .25/06 and .35 Whelen if vanilla is your thing.

Someth8ing in the quarterbore area is what I am missing, but I am struggling to decide whether I need one..... Seems like a hard sell to try and stuff something in between a .243 and 7-08 and justify what type of game / situation I would "need" that chambering.....

I know what you mean... anything between .243 and 7-08 is a "want" not a "need"... but nothing wrong with "wanting" one...

Between 6mm and 7mm, I would be inclined to go with one of the 6.5mm's over a quarterbore... since you are based on the .308 case as is, maybe a .260... but for a change up, perhaps a 6.5X55???

Funny I'm saying this... as I abandoned the 6.5's personally, but still have a couple Roberts filling the gap between my .243/6mm and 7X57/7X64... but I just really like the Roberts cartridge.

I am really not into the euro stuff, if for no other reason than "just because"..... I am also "missing" a slow moving bigger bore, and as I don't own a Ruger #1 yet, I am leaning towards a quarterbore or 260 in a #1 and, if it is a .260 in the #1, a .358 M77 would round out the .308 family and fill the "powerturtle" gap.....
