Anything Missing!?

Winchester Model 70 Safari Express in 375 h&h! now i just need to get some glass for it

The model I was waiting for a decent deal on...found a new one, but I like mojo rifles with hunting marks. Pictures are required.

I am getting a 2-7X24 or 30-ish for the CZ. Hard to find locally as must here are 3-9X40 and up.

Closest I have found is 2-7x33 in Leupold VX2 and Burris Fullfield II. About the same price at 300.00.

Mine is getting the Zeiss treatment in 2-7 x32 as soon as I am done playing with the irons....... At $4.50 a round shooting factory it's expensive "playing", but I am harvesting the brass anyways..... Lol....

oh yes! i plan to do an unboxing and overview when i get it! i was thinking maybe putting on a swarvoski z3 3-10?

This is just my personal opinion, but for a DG rifle, I think even I am pushing it with a 2x....... In fact, if I can hit an 8 inch plate with mine reliably at 200-250 yards, it may never see a scope at all....... Or I may change my mind and put a straight tube on it as well....

The Swaro is a nice piece of glass though.....

i am in the market for a new hunting rifle, i was looking through my hunting guns and need help to see if i have any "holes" in my hunting calibers. i was thinking a 338 maybe?! my shots are well under 300 most times.

30-06 Bolt (General purpose, used the most Deer-Elk)
300 Win Mag Bolt (Moose-Grizz and some longer range applications)
30-30 Lever (Bush gun for deer)
22-250 Bolt (Predator Rifle)
22 WMR Bolt (Gopher Slayer)
10/22 22lr (i never use this for hunting. always pick up the 22 wmr instead)
20 Ga Double (Grouse and rabbit)
12 Ga Semi (Ducks and Goose getter)

Does my Selection seem to cover all bases? i am interested to see what you guys think?! maybe another milsurp is in my future instead!

You're missing a mil-surp my good man. Might I suggest the Mosin Nagant 91/30?

Oh i have lots of milsurps (they make up the bulk of my collection) these are just what i use for hunting! i do love my mosins though! quite a fun shooter! i am more partial to the Springfeild 03 myself.

From a Swaro lover who recently added an optic to a .375: There is not much in the way of a reasonable Swaro that ideally fits your application. I say reasonable because on a rifle like yours (or my Ruger M77) I do not view the Z6/Z6i offerings as reasonable and they are the only ones (barring an interesting vintage find) with appropriate range of magnification. I also considered the Z3 but felt 3x was too much on the low end and less robust internals than the higher lines (although I'm sure it's still a great scope).

My choice: Leupold V3 2.5-8x with Warne QD rings for nice range of magnification (irons - 8x) and EYE RELIEF! Also looked at Zeiss Conquest HD5 2-10 because I really liked that range of magnification but personally found the glass to be not clear enough for the $$$. The VX3 glass was closer to my Z5 to my eyes than the HD5. Trijicon 1-4 was also an option but was underwhelmed for the $$$ and decided with the QD rings I could start at 2x or 2.5x to get a higher high end magnification.

Just some "IMHO" thoughts if any of that is useful, having looked into this recently.

Best of luck and congrats! PS, pictures or it didn't happen!

My 375 has worn a 1.5X5 Leupold for years and have never used or needed the 5X option, usually its set on 3X, so with that in mind I think I should put a nice old 3X Leupold on that I have had for ages gathering dust.

Shortly after I acquired my Winchester model 70 Super Express in 458 WM, I decided on a Leupold 1x4 VARI-XII. So, when I fairly recently acquired my 375 H&H, also a Super Express, I went with the same matching scope on it.

When I picked up a custom 375 CT from Super Cub, I took the Leuopld 1.5x5 VARI-XIII that was available with it.

Nice rifles Johnn, I'll never get tired of seeing them.

My how times have changed in the rifle scope world ?
When Dad brought home a 35 Whelen with a 2.5X Lyman Alaskan on it I thought I had died and gone to Heaven.
My hunting load in that tired old barrel was for years a 275 Hornady over 4064 powder making a sub-3" group and put a lot of meat in the freezer.
How I miss those old long gone bullets..

:)Thanks guy. I'm looking forward to some serious field 'testing' but
options for that may be somewhat curtailed this year. I have a cataract issue that is scheduled to be 'dealt' with early this fall.

I pray that all goes well and I'm sure it will regarding your cataract issue.
You know, getting old is a bummer isn't it ?
I had my 3rd round of chemo this AM so that is putting a crimp on range trips for me..

From all I've been able to find out, and confirmed by some that have had the procedure, it's a pretty straight forward simple and something that's done on a very frequent basis these days. No big deal apparently. The only down side I see, as indicated previously, is it may have a limited influence on hunting this year. Oh well, small price to pay and it'll be nice ;)to see a 'clear' sight picture again:).
What you have to content with is considerably more serious in nature and as I've mentioned in past, my thoughts, prayers and best wishes go with you.

My "working" 375 H&H wears a Zeiss Victory 1.5-6X 42?? (I think) and I find it to be a perfect match.........although as the eyes age more magnification does look better to me.........

Douglas, you must find the 1.5-6 x 42 Zeiss to be a much sharper scope for clarity than my 1.5-5x20 Leupold ?
Is that Zeiss also a 30mm unit ?

Meh..... Eurotrash.... Lol..... If I ever own anything euro it will be a .366 Wagner and I will have stamps changed out..... Maybe some custom brass too...... Can't have people thinking I sip tea with my pinky in the air now can I?..... Lol

Shame. Shame. Shame.
We 9.3x57 owners have nothing to compensate for, nor gaps to fill. Game gladly falls to the potato thrower, for only a classic woodsman knows enough to take such a dinosaur out.

I did just buy a 375 H&H as well, although the I have yet to determine exactly why. But that has never stopped me before.
