Neat. I would be concerned with how fast the aluminum eats the polymer away.

Indeed, however I was refering to the stepped hinge surfaces that give the stock hinge tension when folded to keep it from flopping about.
Is it a real concern or just speculation? Someone with material engineering background can elaborate, isn't mikethebike knowledgeable about material from his day job anyway.
Perhaps incorporate some kind of small self lubricating plastic/nylon washers between the polymer and aluminum? Make it replaceable if worn out.
