Anyone like nice light handy rifles. Just posted this in another thread

Ruger RLS older tang safety in 30/06.
Light and handy in the woods or hills
Not a scout but just as practical

The RLS is nothing more than the RSI in an RL stock... there were a few made with an RLS 20" barrel that command a premium... particularly the .308. I have several in the RLS version... they are indeed "handy" rifles.

I thought that you did find one?

I did have a Lee Speed but I was offered a worthy sum for it. :)

Love the Lee speed

That isn't a Lee Speed as it's a #4 mk1 action but a very nice custom nonetheless in a stalking rifle configuration.

I do have a #1 mk3 action here with Lyman receiver sight and a couple mags (1-10rnd 1-5rnd) as a start to a project similar to the one in the pic. Have a couple bbls sourced as well.

Three sighting systems, leather mag holder on the butt for 2 extra mags. Nice all round cheap handy rifle in 30-30. Pretty too.

I always liked to RSIs but wish that they came with a 20" bbl.

The No.1 RSI's have a 20" barrel...

The M77 RSI's are not "performance" rigs... they are wieldy & purposeful... gliding effortlesly through the woods and taking short"ish" shots at game. Tend to not shoot anywhere near max loads for deer, but with RSI's I compensated with slightly warmer loads... they are all quite accurate and they just feel good carrying in the field. In order to enjoy them fully, things like "trajectory tables" and "chronographs" cannot be floating around in your "grey mass."

I have a literal handi rife with a peep but no solo pictures of it; and this guy:

tikka .338 wm, weighs around 6.5 lbs and great for carrying around all day in the foothills and bush.

The 20" bbl for me isn't about a few extra FPS. Most deer hunting doesn't require a lot of velocity.

I just got it in my head that a full stock rifle should be 20" and do look better at that length.
