Does anyone know where to get a decent (half-decent even) peep sight for a .22 in Canada (like a Williams receiver sight or something similar) ??

Thanks. :)

Most gun shops should be able to get them. In the past I've ordered them from Brownells or I've bought from the EE.

What type of gun? Are you looking for something to mount onto a rimfire 3/8" rail?
Often a new front sight is required.

It's for an old Cooey 75, so I'm thinking a gunsmith might be necessary anyway......

if I wanted to do this for my 10/22 I looked it up on their site, and I found this one: w ww.brownells.com/rifle-parts/sights/rear-sights/wgrs-receiver-sights-prod16154.aspx

now the one on there says: , ".500 to 570 front sight" what does that mean? Also which new front sight should I get? Is it because the new rear sight sits higher?

thanks, and sorry to highjack your thread.

Yes, that's right. You need a new front which is within those specs for the height.

Sk8r, near as I can see from web pictures any usual option is going to mean drilling and tapping holes at least. You sure the rifle is worth it? By the time you buy a sight and pay to have it mounted you'll be into it for way more than the cost of the rifle.

Yeah. I'm just kinda thinking about the whole thing at the moment. MIght go with one of my other .22's - dunno yet.... :)

In Ontario you can buy them from Ellwood Epp's, they have a large stock on them on the wall.
In Alberta, you can get them from Western Gun Parts...yes their website sucks, but if you phone you will be pleased.

For an old Coey you are definitely going to be drilling and tapping...if the firearm is not expensive that is not a big deal but I would get it done by a smith anyway. Also, the way they are contoured to fit the receiver may not work with the Coey...

See if you can find a peep Site that was used on a Model 82 Cooey.I mounted one on a 39 Cooey I have here.I got it from WGP prob 10 yrs ago, cost me about $40 by the time I got it,plus whatever it cost me to get the machining done to mount it.Very happy with it!!!!

The peep for the 82 is pretty crude. Just a 90deg bent tab that is screwed to the receiver and the vertical leg has a slot that the peep rides up and down in and then threads together to clamp it at the right height for what you are shooting.

You might want to consider a barrel mounted peep from Skinner that could replace the leaf knotched rear sight that you have right now.
