Appears I over stoned my 10/22 Trigger & Sear

That's right,I gave them a bit too much stoning and now the action is not consistent and way too light.

Any of you guys out there that replaced your stock Ruger trigger & sears with after market units want to sell me your originals ? Or is there some was of refacing or cutting the hammer that might fix the problem ? I thought there was something on U-tube but can't find it.

Try just using an extra fine stone (1000 grit) to start. It is really easy to take too much off, as BWANA and many others can tell you. Making it smoother is more important than reducing the engagement, IMO. Just smoothing the contact points will help you understand what's going on in there, and then you can decide if you want to reduce the engagement later using a 600 grit stone. I use stones from a Lansky knife sharpening set, but only because I'm cheap. A set of proper smith stones is a good investment.

Free advice to others thinking of doing this modification (take it for what it's worth!): If you don't know how to add engagement to the trigger system, you should probably think twice about reducing engagement. But, the parts are cheap to replace, so if you don't mind having an unusable gun while waiting on replacement parts, go right ahead!
 
Yes,Youtube has several Guys lightening the triggers on 10/22's,some clearer than others.Just remember to,"GO SLOW" on removing metal from the hammer /sear engagement area of the hammer.I got a tad too agressive with too coarse a stone and lost the engagement.

GO SLOW ON THE STONING !!!
