Applying for PAL/RPAL, previously on andtidepressants

Hey guys, I was just wondering if its going to be a problem when i send in my app because i was on apo-citalopram for mild depression about 2 years back.. It wasnt for anything serious but i dont want to jeapordize my application. I dont want to lie about it either. Should i be worried?
 
Honesty is the best policy. If you feel you don't want to omit it from your application then do so. My friends wife did the same thing and had no problem getting her RPAL.
 
You don't have any choice, you have to report it. Include a letter that explains your situation.

And don't worry, you'll still get your firearms license.

Explain why you were taking them, but more importantly in their opinion, why you stopped. Assume you were taken off the meds by a doctor after your condition was re-evaluated?

There is always the chance that they could do a more intesive background check. If they find out you omitted this, it could cause problems.
 
A close friend of mine had her telephone interview 2 weeks ago. Most of her questions focused on mental health and anti depressant meds, for her, and for anyone in her home.... Honesty is key!
 
just get your doctor to write a note saying you are fine and include that with your application. thats what i did and i didnt even get asked about meds or anything on my phone interview
 
Then you should be good. Just be sure to include all pertinent information when you send in your app. They will likely ask you in the interview about it, and then you will have your chance to fully explain and expand.
 
I was in the same boat as you. one of the questiones on the application has to do with mental illness. I checked the box and attached a letter explaining the antidepressant I am taking, and the reasons for it. I also explained how taking the medication affects my life, and the fact that I am confident in my position, and am comfortable with where I am. Before I was approved, I was requested to have a doctor sign a medical certificate, issues by the CFO, stating that I am ok, and not crazy, or violent and stuff. After I got that paper sent in, my application was approved a few days latter.
As mentioned, honesty is key and it will only hurt your chances if you lie about and they find out.

Phone interviews are only required if applying for a restricted PAL.

If in the future you want to apply for a restricted PAL, you and your references will be called at that time.

That is not set in stone, i did a interview at their request when i phoned in last week to make sure there was nothing to prevent me from getting my PAL issued at the 28 day mark (tomorrow). Not sure what is was that made them pay more attention to my application??

Also, you started taking antidepressants 2ish years ago? or you stopped taking them 2ish years ago.
There are 2 categories of questions they ask, pertaining to events up to 5 years ago and events up to 2 years ago. Pretty sure the "have you been diagnosed with depression/prescribed antidepressants" question is in the "in the last 2 years" section.
